Having sustained success for 6-7 years shouldn’t automatically mean your roster becomes complete garbage afterwards, without any possibility of retooling/maintaining that success.
You can’t assemble such a poor roster and then sit there and act like it’s all just bad luck/inevitable. That’s not how things work. There’s a GM in charge of making decisions and regardless of how much success you’ve had and how much you’ve gotta squeeze to fit under the cap that doesn’t excuse your GM from making poor ones.
There’s been plenty of talent that’s come through this organization in recent years that was wrongfully evaluated by our GM, and lost without getting equal value in return. This is a FACT. There’s also been some very silly contracts handed out to aging vets. Also a FACT. Am I supposed to accept those mistakes and brush them aside just because “well, we already won 3 Cups in a 6 year span that ended 5 years ago.” ???
There is definitely blame to go around. Definitely fingers to be pointed. And most of them should be pointing at the GM who assembled this current roster that’s lacking in speed and skill. - SimpleJack
Contracts for aging vets? Aside from Seabrook, who else? |

It’s called the truth. Our GM has assembled a garbage roster. I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. We’re awful and the man in charge of making the decisions that led us to this point, naturally, deserves to be blamed. - SimpleJack
Lol. I love it. You get an absolute dream 10 year run that you're never gonna see again - no matter who the GM is - and you're living with a chapped ass. Enjoy it, just don't expect reasonable people to go dark with you. |

You have a point, I like what he did with the Leafs. He traded away Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton for that two way leader Phil “prospector” Kassel. He told us all how great the Leafs were, how they had the best defense and smart he was. - paulr
To say that Burke traded Seguin and Hamilton to Boston for Kessel is ridiculous. Toronto never had Seguin and Hamilton to trade, and who's to say whether they would have chosen these particular prospects with the DRAFT PICKS that Burke traded to Boston? A draft pick when traded is just that, a draft pick--no more, no less.
By your logic one could say that Toronto traded Noah Hanafin for Kessel, since Hamilton was traded to Calgary who then traded him to Carolina for Hanafin.
And one might also argue that the infamous Phil Esposito trade to Boston was not quite as one-sided as it is made out to be because part of the return was traded to Los Angeles for Bill White, one of the best defensive defensemen ever to play the game. |

That's the only way to look at it.
Winning cups doesn't excuse you from criticism.

For the record, are you gonna fire the new GM after 1 season if the team's not better? 2 seasons? A week? |

This board operates game to game we are in a year to year situation and the teardown has not begun.

Actually saying “Burkie” didn’t have the (frank)ing intelligence and foresight to make sure he protected two lottery picks is even worse. |

What is wrong with so many Blackhawk fans? Did any of you really think the team wasn't going to regress before it could move forward? Do/did you seriously believe a team that had all that success, had to move out prospects and draft picks to try to bolster the team to win or to stay cap compliant, who drafted later in the draft for close to 10 years could and who have a core of aging players whose best days/games are behind them would suddenly be any more than they currently are?
To all those wanting deperately to point fingers of blame, it's not Bowman, It's not Colliton or McD or the media or Toews or whomever. That's not to say any of the aformentioned are doing everything right and can't be critisized but the finger of blame should be pointed directly at what we as fans we so happy about, but apparantly took for granted, the blame is on Success, on 3 Stanley cups and on the best period in Chicago Blackhawk history.
Personally I'll sit back and enjoy the rebuild, hopefully I'll see a similar repeat on 2008 when we witnessed the Hawks turning a corner from a joke franchise to the premier team from 2009 to 2016. I find it much easier than whining, bellyaching and not understanding why the Hawks are where they are today. - paulr
Well said, it’s so easy to begin bellyaching when things turn South, but it’s the natural ebb and flow of things.

1. You trade Lehner if the plan is to rebuild. He’s not a rebuild goaltender, he should be on a contender and with him being only a rental, would fetch a king’s ransom at the deadline. We are talking top prospect and a first round pick.
2. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned Saad. He’s a useful player and I think he also gets a nice return in a deadline deal.
3. The team is going to have a very difficult time in a rebuild because of the prohibitive marketing and consumer side of things. McD can’t market ‘rebuild’ and there are no players to sell with advertising revenue in a rebuild like that, nobody proven.
4. I’m not sold Colliton is the issue so much as Colliton with the vets is an issue. He’s done pretty well with most of the kids. If the Hawks do rebuild, I think JC stays.
5. That being said, if the Hawks do rebuild, Stan has to go. Way too many bad trades, bad calls. - Bjm84
Interesting line of thinking, I wonder what the different players think about him? It’d be interesting if you find out their thoughts, individually from the core to the young guys like Dach, DeBrincat and Strome etc.... |

Paul, Mark Hunter is OK but apparently you and Oldduffman have forgotten that Brian Burke is sitting in Toronto in waiting for a job with the Hawks. The posters on here would love and approve of him, even if they never made the playoffs. His hockey philosophy fits perfectly:
" I don't like flag football, I like teams that bang".
" Hockey is a man's game. The team with the most real men wins".
" We require as a team levels of pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence".
What's not to like? - RickJ
I would be ok with Burke thought he did a good job in Calgary and Toronto. Still comes back to the question does Rocky have it in him to fire bowman. |

Hat trick for Duclair, including the OT winner for Ottawa against Columbus.
That’s 28+7=25 in 33 games.
That settles it - Stan has got to go. |

JFC - you think Burke did a good job in Toronto and you think Bowman sucks? Do you even pay attention to what’s going on or do you come to an opinion by Reading comments on the BOD? |
