I wouldn't worry about those bonuses. Many of the players on their ELC'S who have the bonuses written into their contracts likely won't reach the levels needed for payout.

Read Tribune`s Jimmy Greenfield`s article on the Hawks situation ,can`t disagree with anything he says .

the only positive out of this is the hawks can LTIR him and use those cap $$ to fina replacement..not easy to do

If they keep falling further out of the playoffs over the next couple weeks, they can help other teams by taking on a bad top heavy expiring contract so a team can load up for a Stanley cup run. By doing this they can maybe grab a great prospect or high draft pick. Help build for the future.

That's possible, however IMO it would be time for Chicago to have a come to Jesus moment and make every attempt to try and move either Kane or toews and get the best possible package

I just read the other day a article talking about Chicago's salary cap issues at the end of the season and for next year in particular was the bonuses that will/could affect next year , based on what Chicago already has committed in salary and their signing needs.

I know you mentioned not to worry that much , but seeing how Stan has created a hot mess and the likely scenario is him being fired , the last thing any new GM would want is more salary cap issues to deal with than Chic ago already has its issues

Is the article about bonuses?I don't have a Tribune subscription. Just read StL post on the previous page quoting Powers' article on bonuses. I would put the payout at 1.5M, a far cry from the 7.67M potential bonus payout shown on Capfriendly. The 1.5 is not unmanageable IMO.

My in-the-head calculations of potential realistic bonuses this season (base on an excerpt of an article in the Athletic, shown below) comes to possibly aomething approaching $2MM.

Perhaps, instead of utilizing deHaan’s LTIR money for an expensive replacement, they should apply it to the bonuses (if the CBA would allow it)so they don’t carry forward to next season.

Powers, in the Athletic:

We haven’t talked much about player bonuses this season, but that could lead to the Blackhawks having a slight overage at the end of the season.
Dylan Strome could reach some of his “A” bonuses. He’s in line to at least be among the team’s top six forwards in ice time and the top three forwards in plus/minus rating. Each of those would trigger a bonus of $212,500. There are also bonuses of the same amount if he has 20 goals, 35 assists, 60 points or averages 0.73 points. He’s only allowed a maximum of $850,000 in the “A” bonuses and will probably be close to hitting that amount.
Dominik Kubalik has those same bonuses in his contract. As of now, he has a shot at the plus/minus bonus and the bonus for 20 goals. He would also get a $212,500 bonus if he were selected to the all-rookie team.
Alex DeBrincat has a bonus in his contract worth $32,500 if he plays in all 82 games this season. It paid him $132,500 for appearing in all 82 games last season and $182,500 for playing in all 82 games as a rookie.
Boqvist, Dach and Alex Nylander also have performance bonuses in their contracts this season, but they’re unlikely to meet most of them at this point. Dach could have a chance at the all-rookie team bonus.

Great breakdown , that would be a great if they can use any of that monies to offset and bonuses.

Your point in theory if it comes down to 1.5 as a pose to the 7.6 is more manageable, however based on the reporting last year, next year salary cap isn't going to rise that much best case is 4 million but highly unlikely

Hawks traded for Shaw , Maata and DeHaan this off season

Hmm what did they all have common

Oh yeah they are out the line up a lot due to injuries and illness
Not the players fault but I think more thought should have been put into these moves by Stan

I hope they move Sikura to give him a chance to succeed - he’s not going to get a good opportunity here, apparently.

Maybe because he's not good

Sikura will score 25 goals next year for Ottawa playing on the same line with Duclair.

Tonight will he Boqvist's 9th game in the NHL this year. Will he play tomorrow, burning the 1st year of his ELC, sent to Sweden to prepare for the World Junior tourney, or sent back to the Rock?

Depends on whether Stan pulls a rabbit 🐇 out of his hat and comes up with Gustafsson trade tonight or tomorrow!

Exactly. If Shaw is out all year, same thing. This could be a huge benefit to the Hawks.

One good shift - but 10+ minutes - one SOG, one shot blocked.

Anybody know if a HDSC requires a shot on goal. What if a wide open shot from the slot misses the net? Thanks.
