Crags- you really think botts is going to feel "forced" to trade bogo?
This is the benefit of having a gm that's not going to just react immediately to any situation.
Have to imagine bogos value goes up every day he's not injured. All the way thru the deadline.
More teams know their playoff fates
More $ off his contract - Boss34
No, I think he pissed some guys off by hoarding half the NHL surplus supply of RHD. Not enough time to go around to 8 guys. Hopefully he gets something useful for someone |

If I am Botterill these are my thoughts
Wanted to move Risto in the offseason and didn't get his price, he is playing very well so lets hold onto him
Has 525,600 defensemen under contract and one has requested a trade
Move him for a bag of pucks. He is oft injured and doesn't move the bar in terms of on ice production and play.
What this does is clear up some much needed cap space.
Now I have 525,599 defensemen under contract and can move one of them and if needed eat some salary for the rest of the year to get a better return (preferably a forward that can improve the 2nd line)
Bogo coming out and asking for a trade just makes him the first player to move and not really carrying much about the return because lets face it you're not getting much for him anyway |

Bogo was always hurt, over-paid and played poorly most of the time during his tenure in Buffalo. But the one (apparent) saving grace for him is that he was supposed to be an outstanding and upstanding individual - both in the locker room and the community. All the Bogo "good' got shattered yesterday when he turned on his team and teammates.
He is now poison. Nobody wanted him before. Do you think anyone wants him now? Waive him and then loan him to another AHL team. Neither the Sabres nor the Amerks need that poison in the locker room. |

I just don't see why they would want him. Granted, they may be saying the same about Gally coming here. |

I say just trade BOGO for a late round pick and use the extra cap to be more aggressive during the trade deadline. |

Bogo has played the left side a little bit. Scandella still probably makes more sense for them |

Can we all realize that no team will want BOGO's contract for a late round pick unless we retain a lot of salary? Can we also realize that just because Galchynuk is having a bad year does not mean that his value is so low that Pittsburgh would trade him straight up for Bogo? I hope I am totally wrong, but we have to be realistic here. If he can stay healthy until the deadline then maybe he fetches something, but currently there are a limited amount of teams with the room for his salary and I highly doubt that they would want to use it on a guy like Bogo! |

From WGR-
"The Pittsburgh Penguins were mentioned as a potential trade partner by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman. When talking with The Instigators on Thursday, Friedman said the Sabres have shown more interest in forward Alex Galchenyuk than any other team.
Coincidentally, Galchenyuk's cap hit is just a little bit lower than Bogosian's at $4.9 million."

"I'm going to let any conversation between myself, Jason and my agent stay. Me personally, I'm not going to say anything. ... I'm going to let everything stay in house
Bogosian on whether he was surprised to get scratched: "I'm not sure. Like I said, I'm just focused on trying to get back in the lineup." (He was surprised. Said he thinks it was his first healthy scratch of his career).

I was just about to mention the Isles as a team that could potentially be a fit for BOGO. They have the space for him. Not sure is they want him though. |

Botts doesn't care. Who has he pissed off? Other gms?
Its business.
They have rotated injured guys out, including bogo.
Even used the 7/11
If we make a playoff run, were going to want solid defensman and for Rochester to slowly arrive.

The defensemen, well at least one confirmed. Others possibly. This is a byproduct of his defensemen hoarding. That's just a fact, jack |

And VO Sign him to a long term contract in the summer - gerbe75pts
It was only a matter of time. His analytics have been strong for the past few years now. A little luck and more of a shot mentality and here we go.
Also can’t deny that Olofsson has been much better in that spot then Skinner. |

Good post:
Botts is working it more like I would.
Look at the nhl trend - see that teams like to add veteran defenseman at the deadline. With no strings attached moving into next year.
Play the market, keep him for the Sabres depth if you cant get anything worth while.
Slowly mature pilut and borgen. Let them have ahl success similiar too asplund and goaloffson.
*pretty much our only real muscle.
In case we match up vs. A tough team in the playoffs |
