Olofsson is exactly as he's always been, streaky. He's going to go cold again this year, and probably heat up again after that. - buffalofan19
Or maybe the kid needed 20 games to get acclimated to the NHL. He has 19 points in his last 18 game’s and 4 multi point game’s in his last 6.

Think that's a slight stretch, to say it unequivocally. Not gonna go down the road again (yet here I am) but Skinner got 40, mostly 5v5, on Jacks wing. Olofsson is hot lately, but started the year with what, 20 games of 0 even strength goals? But not surprising that you feel this way. Either way, I like that we're scoring, we're winning, and getting back to the playoffs should be the goal and see what happens. - SDSabre
Olofsson-Eichel-Reinhart has been the best line in the NHL the last 10 games. Olofsson is on pace for 70+ points.
Olofsson is a better fit with Jack, and Skinner helps the team more by generating for himself on another line. Win-win situation. |

In other news, Guhle has been sent down again. - adambuffalo
And Montour has arguably been our best d-man this year. 10 points in 19 games with only one Power Play point. Coincidentally Risto has been playing his best hockey of his career also. |

Wonder if his point streak has anything to do with Reinhart and Eichel both shooting 9% better than their career average.
I like Olofsson a ton. He’s definitely gotten a lot better.
But he isn’t setting guys up with premium chances either. He’s been the beneficiary of two guys on hot streaks and being on a line with the MVP.
That line unfortunately is going to have a massive dip at some point and I hope people don’t go nuts because of it |

Terrell Suggs was released and will be on waivers as of Monday. Should the Bills be interested? He's old, but does have 5 1/2 sacks. |

Well yea Sam is “on” again and it will be soon before he’s “off” again. Eichel can’t shoot at this rate forever and sooner or later the point streak will end.
I like what Olofsson is doing though on that line.
Skinner has and always will produce offence for himself for the most part, I don’t think Olofsson can do that however he really has not been giving the opportunity too.

I think this is the biggest key
Coach Dracula has found him the right spot with the right combination
Do I think Skinner overall is better yes I do.... but that doesn't make it the best fit. |

Better for for the team I can see. Anyways, not going to argue this again. Like I said we’re scoring, we’re winning (and in different ways), we’re playing well. Guys will get hot and guys will get cold. We’ll see how it all shakes out |

Bogo going public for a trade is further evidence that Botts is a bad GM. What did Botts think would happen when a player like Bogo is sitting while McCabe is playing? If I were Bogo I would do the same.
Mittelstadt scratched? Why the hell hasn’t he been sent down to Rochester months ago to properly develop? How was sitting in the press box and playing minimal minutes helping his development?
We have neophytic ownership and management and it’s embarrassing. Steps should have been taken last off-season to properly deal with the logjam at defense and shortcomings of the forward depth. When you have 8+ NHL defensemen and so few quality forwards that you have an undeveloped draft pick playing third center and a fourth liner playing a top six role, it’s a problem.
Not to mention that we have other problems brewing with players like Pilut and Gilmour not getting NHL ice time they feel they deserve. I am sure they are both looking to get out of here ASAP.
This is mismanagement plain and simple. It is part of the GM’s job to look ahead and foresee these things happening. We have had a player morale issue in this organization for years and it’s not getting any better. This is unacceptable.
Yet again we are a joke and TP is too simple to even realize that he should be embarrassed.

Olofsson is the perfect example on how you develop players within your organization. Mitts should have stayed at Minnesota for his sophomore year, get more college games in and develop. Instead he was a year out of high school playing in the NHL. He wasn't ready. He needs to play games in the AHL, he'll be better for it in the long run. |

I wouldn't go that far, but the Bogo situation is certainly a byproduct of Botterill's decisions and roster construction. Defensemen were bound to be pissed off when you have 8 guys with NHL experience jockeying for 6, or in our case due to necessity, 7 spots. He can still fix it, and he should |

Due to roster limitations, it is tough to add a new player at this time, but I do think he could still help this team. I would think cutting someone like TE Lee Smith would make sense, no one is picking him up, if he have a TE injury, you could sign this dude back easy. |

I think your perspective is pretty harsh, yet does carry a level of truth to it.
I like Jason, and think he has accomplished quite a bit through out the organization, with the big club being the last to see the fruits of his labor. I agree he should have done more to address the roster issues that were evident to most back in July. This is the second year he has failed with having an adequate plan for 2C and 2RW.
That said , this was always going to be a tough year with a restless fanbase, and the number of deadweight contracts holding back the last phase of rebuilding the roster into his vision of it. The reality is that a couple of factors out of his control have conspired against his ability to pull off a couple of moves inseason to address those issues; a) lower Cap than anticipated has pushed teams tighter to the Limit, b) the number of teams with LTIR players further reduces their flexibility.
Say what you will about no excuses, figure it out, he's the GM and on and on, but that is the reality.
Now, join with me anyway...
Do something Jason!

Borgen, picks, Mitts might make FL consider it. Hoffman is on an expiring contract and they might not have cap space to re-sign him. Hoff's been good here, and no word or hints of any off-ice drama. Mitts intrigues me because he's obviously a talented kid, just hasn't progressed as hoped/expected. It reminds me somewhat of how some here were ready to trade Huberdeau for a bag of pucks after his second and even third year. Many of you think Mitts needs AHL time, at least a new team wouldn't be bound by any promises possibly made to college student Mitts about not going to the AHL.
Don't think FL would move Hoffman (especially to a division rival) unless they fall out by the TDL, but, who knows? An offer too good to refuse and they might pull the trigger, and then bring Tippett up to be the PP sniper. I think that's who they're expecting to be there next season, if they can't afford re-signing the Hoff. - Ratsreign
To clarify, you're not suggesting it would take all three of the bolded above to trade for Hoffman, are you? |
