Good news - CJ is leaving the Cousins-Suzuki-Weal line in tact. |

Bergevin to reporters in Van: I can’t say what will happen over the next week, or 2 weeks or 2 months. If there’s a way we can improve the team by using our cap space, we’ll do it. But I have no clue at the moment (if we’ll spend it) and I have nothing currently in the works.
Bergevin cont’d: “I will not mortgage the future of this team just hoping to make the playoffs. Because, again, I can’t sit here today to tell you that I’m going to make 1 move that guarantees us to make the playoffs and I’m not going to sell the farm for it. I will not do that.” |

Good
but I'm afraid they will stay a perennial middle of the pack team. Hopefully they are clearly out of it at the deadline so they can sell a few guys. |

why should we expect MB to do something now when he did nothing when it was the time (last summer).
just wait and watch this season unfold and Habs fail yet again.
hey! good draft rank though!

They don't have much to sell. Most of the vets have contracts and you don't move them at the deadline.
Thompson might go, but he won't bring much, one would think.
Domi could be interesting, but I think Bergervin will play it «safe» and give him a short term contract this summer. |

I hope he's right, but I wouldn't be surprised if Romanov stays in the KHL. They can throw more money at him, Bergevin's hands are tied by the CBA.
The only thing that could save it is that the KHL will implement a salary cap next season, and CSKA might want to manage their money differently. |

Bergevin never really tried to make the post season this year. His big move was Chiarot and that was a patch work job more than anything.
I still think that he has carte blanche to miss the playoffs for a few seasons. This explains why he is not panicking to save his job. His job is safe. |

Not sure he is getting all the ice time he wants over there. From what I heard, he was not getting all that much at the start of the season.
He will make his $$$ in the NHL soon enough, as long as he is better than Jared Tinordi. |
