did I just hear MB saying that good players, teams keep them, so to make a trade just to make a trade....
what about Taylor Hall? isn't he a good player?
not that I disagree with everything he did, but what a load of bs he can say whenever he takes the mic! |

not necessarly, depends on what he would have gave. do we know these 3 prospects NJ got? I don't. are they all grade A prospects? or are they Colberg type prospects...
but you cannot say teams keep their good players, and than see Hall being dealt 30 minutes later. that in my book is BS. major BS. |

Merkley yes. He was a 1st rounder.
And that pick could be as high as 4th OA, that's valuable. |

Yes and no...Hall is a good player, but he's also a rental. Bergevin probably meant good players that are signed. |

Petry wasn't signed when they got him. don't try to find excuses for MB. |

Well yeah, but he was also in a different situation where he was taking a win-now approach. That failed, and now he's in a ''let's rebuild'' approach, which won't happen by selling prospects and picks and hoping that the player signs. |

Not sure would be wise for us to give that, I mean even with Hall I dont see us passing the 1st round, so voila |

again, I don't mind MB taking the 'rebuild' approach.
but don't come out and say teams keep their good players and trades are hard... and then Hall gets traded within the hour. that's BS. |

We all knew Hall was on the market. It was only a matter of time.
Bergevin won't screw up with the future of this team (so far) and I agree with that.
Hall is injury prone, too old for a rebuild and a rental who should test the market. And if he doesn't? Lose another first round pick for him. |

let me be more clear if possible, you seem to have problem understanding.
I don't blame MB for not trading for Hall, I blame him for telling us BS without blinking. |

whatever. He was clear about not selling the farm just for the sake of maybe, making the playoffs. |

and we agree on that.
not sure ARZ sold the farm though, but that's another story.
was giving a 2nd and Colberg selling the farm?
now before you tell me, I'm not saying you get Hall with that package. I'm saying you can improve your team without selling the farm. |

I still stick to the opinion that he meant non-rental players. Everyone including MB knew that Hall was available, and that you likely get Hall for half a season only. |

Pretty much this. Don't expect him to buy just to get a rental. The team is not one player away to contend for the cup. Bergevin knows this and act on that knowledge.
Habs need to keep their picks and prospects like crazy. They need more of them, if they can.
Why did we trade Pacioretty? Why Shaw? |

while that is true, they also need to make the playoffs (eventually) in order for the kids to learn what playoffs hockey is. it is valuable experience to get.
worth a 2nd and a B prospect imo. not, I repeat, not a 1st. |
