Kelly from 90210 was not an ass at all. - hscesq
But seriously Romanov probably wants to have a guarantee that he's making the big club if he's coming over, that's really the only point that could go wrong. You know he's getting max rookie salary, maybe a little discussion about performance bonuses but I can't see that really being an issue.

We probably would have drafted Girard though.
And if you ask me, Shaw had one good season in Montreal, which was last year. The man was already breaking down when he came here.
I'm glad him and his contract are gone. - Scabeh
oh come on with the contract. how much above the league average does he make? a million? and how much cap space has Montreal sat on the last 3 years? we can debate the trade but let's not pretend his contract was an issue in Montreal.

If he comes over, he'll be in the NHL.
Doesnt mean he'll have a big role from the get go but I can't see us sending him down so we can keep Mike Reilly around again.

It wasn't an issue because we never lacked cap space it's true.
But he's still signed for 2 more seasons after this one. At some point that 3,9M cap hit for a broken player could have been in the way.
His contract was a bad one from the moment it was signed, mainly because the term was 6 years.
I'm just glad it's gone and I'm happy with the trade.

Are you still glad when you see Jordan Weal and Nick Cousins on the second line and the powerplay? - MortChicken
Jordan Weal has 4 points. that's tied with Mike Rielly and it's 5 fewer than Nate Thompson. how he is even considered for anything but a part-time 4th line role at this point is remarkable.
