Like I said, there was an article in the Buffalo News probably a year or so ago where an architect claimed it could be done. - buffalofan19
My question is does that "have to be done"
keep basketball hockey in one and convention and football in another |

The article, if I recall, was merely stating it was an idea that was put on the table, not that it was any sort of frontrunner. |

There's no way the league would have known Buffalo was going to be this good when it made the schedule. The Jerry Jones comments about Jason Garrett had every bit as much to do with those TV ratings nationally as the Bills did. That game could have featured the Bengals and the numbers would have been similar. - buffalofan19
Perhaps the Jones/Garrett had something to do with it. But I'll be honest I have no idea what Jerry Jones said about Garrett, of course I try to ignore anything Jerry Jones related. I'll be interested to see how the ratings went last night.

Probably very good. Sunday Night Football is currently the most watched show on television, not just sports. |

I'm sure I'll be called out for some inside information I recently heard but, there is talk of not investing in the current arena, but plans to build a multi purpose (sabres and bills) in downtown.
Pegs and pegs have been busy - Boss34
Makes total sense to me. Any ideas where they may locate it?
I would think the current arena area would be a prime area |

Is there any coincidence that the Thanksgiving game between Buffalo and Dallas was the most watched Thanksgiving Day game in 27 years and the most-watched regular season game on any network in three years?
It can't be because of Dallas ... they play every Thanksgiving. Do you think the NFL looks at the ratings and thinks we may be missing something by not putting Buffalo on more national primetime slots? Just a thought. - SabresLeafsFan

There was an article about that in The Buffalo News a while back. An architectural firm put an idea on the table about a facility that could transform be a football stadium, hockey arena, and a convention center all at once. Supposedly you could transform from one to another in a matter of hours, too.
Speaking of the arena, I mentioned this the day after the Predators game, when I saw the T-shirts over the arena seats. They should totally Aud-color any new seats as part of any renovation/new arena. - buffalofan19
I love he idea, I guess the pegulas mentioned something about the arena needing "too many " upgrades.
I'm hoping for a giant new screen.
With both teams looking good, I imagine the locals would back a new stadium. It would be impressive |

The piece of paper with my name on it in a drawer at my house say that the arena was built very generic and on the low. Even the locker rooms are rather blah |

Before I moved down to Florida there was talk about expanding UB's football stadium
I mentioned with the subway running from UB to have them play downtown as well at the new stadium
Then there's the MLS that could add event's downtown
Why not have a college football, NFL, MLS, and a convention center all under one roof?
If they can figure a way to have an ice rink in that as well then that would be insane (turning over from an ice rink to basketball courts isn't that big of a deal, but having a football stadium and an ice rink in the same building isn't a walk in the park) - Stripes77
I agree. 1 big complex?
I always wondered why UB didnt take their hockey program seriously. The Pepsi center directly across the street. Canada being so close? Great local competition among other colleges. |

Count me as confused on that. It would be easy to create a rivalry with Cansius, NU, Penn State, .. - SabresLeafsFan
Me thinks Title 9 would play a big role
Keep in mind costs, hell they cut soccer after making the national tournament and having kid drafted
I bet NU has far fewer sports in the department
What makes sense doesnt always mean what happens,
Help one athletic department petition for Ice Hockey to which was shut down based on the amount of programs. It didnt matter that it was the only club team that was cash positive following the season. |

I would think the current arena area would be a prime area - IonSabres
That was my follow up question too 🙂
Apparently it would be build near the current area? I guess the pegs have been purchasing land under "different names" trying to keep the cost down.
Clearly inflation hits when you mention "pegula"
They made some comments, that the arena would need a complete renovation
He also mentioned that the pegulas were aiming for this off season to do the upgrades. I thought he mentioned that they publically stated it. I hadn't seen or heard that myself.
Funny, because I thought about this concept last year with the outdoor game. If he Sabres were a powerhouse they cold draw football crowds. Maybe vs. The leafs, they play in the football part? |
