disagree
the goal SHOULD BE make the playoffs this season and be able to go deep in the playoffs next season - homiedclown
The goal IS to build a team that can legitimately compete for the Cup year in, year out
Who’s our goalie next year that gets us “deep” in the playoffs next year?
As good to great as Cozens & UPL could become,
it’s highly unlikely they’re the type of difference makers in year 1 with us (if they’re even on the team) that get us past Boston & Tampa
Sure, we could extend Palmeri to a 3 year deal,
IF he’d sign here... IF
We don’t know. It’s a gamble
Or we could use that $$$ on someone younger who will be here longer for sure
I’m not saying i hate the idea of Palmeri
He’s a good player
But his age/contract makes it a less than ideal situation |

At some point the team needs to commit to winning instead of having one foot in and one foot out.
Do I think we should trade 2 1sts for Hall? No. But the goal this year should be to find the guy offensively for this year and next year so you can add him to the mix of Cozens, Thompson, Mittelstadt, Borgen and Pilut and hopefully really go for something next year.
Acquire that impact forward now and the benefits are enormous - jcragcrumple
Or get a younger guy that can be here for 5+ years that can help NOW, and moving forward
Yeah, i know it’s tougher to get a guy like that than a guy like Palmeri
All I’m saying is that it’s a better option |

Can't go to the minors until he's 21 I think. It's either here or WHL for 2 more years. Which is insanely dumb. - SDSabre
2 years from being drafted or if the player has 4 yrs of Juniors experience. |

Not just Jack, the plan cant be pay Skinner all that money then wait 2/3 years so maybe a prospect can be good enough to play on a line with him. |

Totally agree
And that’s why i said it depends what Palmeri costs
I wouldn’t wanna give up a 1st for a guy that’s probably just here for a year & a half |

Maybe, but you cant let perfect be the enemy of good. We need a good move, not a perfect one.
Can I get a good player for Miller, a 2nd and Samuelson or Johnson?
Should be able to, whatever the name is |

I don’t disagree
But a guy like Ehlers is preferable to a guy like Palmeri

That’s kind of a lot to pay to get beat in the st round by Tampa or Boston
Why not just turn that 2nd into a first & get an Ehlers type player?
Don’t u think that’s a better idea? |

Figure couple young pieces
Dea and a D man or something along those lines
Could a Erod be of interest.
Could an extra piece send along Okposo or another vet they could flip?
imo you would get 2x more in return then waiting next year as a rental

I think you want Ehlers
Which is fine. Do we get him for Bogo and a top-10 protected first? I wish he played RW or C but I dont hate the idea |

I'm really excited about both teams and we have that in common.
Neither of us are going to sway our opinions on sam.
Regardless, no one wants to come on here and read others bagging on their players. I'll try to refrain.
Although, sometimes you reverse troll. |

So Winnipeg a playoff team is going to just give him away?
Are you ready to give over 2 high end prospects and a 1st? |

I dont think Winnipeg has any interest in trading him, tbh. I'm just curious what Fitz thinks is a reasonable PRICE |

Of course i would!
But i said “Ehlers TYPE”
So yeah...
I’d prefer we give up more to get a guy in his early/mid20s instead of his late20s
Palmeri is basically a long rental for us
So if we are talking E Rod & a 2nd, cool
If we are talking a 1st or one of our top prospects,
then I’d pass
And that goes for Toffoli, etc as well
We aren’t building to get to 8th here
There’s bigger goals in mind |

How about Strome from Chicago, he's a RFA next year, pretty good set up man, could be good with Skinner. |
