Toffoli is a bit different as a pending UFA
A year and a half left on a contract could actually be a nice situation, especially if it's for a center. Hopefully one of Cozens or Mittelstadt is ready after that |

How about Strome from Chicago, he's a RFA next year, pretty good set up man, could be good with Skinner. - Buff36
2013/14 hubie would be ecstatic.

Not trying to start anything but isnt this what we said about
Casey
Nylander
Asplund
Lemuiex
Compher
and so on? - hubie
I mean any player selected after the first round is a lottery ticket. The Sabres suck at drafting and developing and have for a very long time |

Just putting it out there, only 23 and had a pretty good year last year with 18 goals and 34 assists, not much this year but that whole teams a mess. |

Also the hes too good for fill in the blank Junior League doesnt work well either
Grigorenko was "too good"
Zach Fucale was the second coming of Ken Dryden
Dylan Strome was the best all around player since Towes
Max Domi was the perfect hard nosed player with scoring.
Remember when no matter which Sam you went with was going to be a long time NHLer
Galchenyuk and Zacha out of sarina
All these guys were goign to be franchise defining players
Imagine that pick being dealt for a bonafide top end talent. - hubie
Imagine dealing Mika Zibanijad for Derick Brassard
Imagine dealing Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat
It works both ways. |

And Guhle.
This is the power and the problem of "IF" - Der Kaiser
Sure, a lot of the times prospects are overhyped. However almost every single player is drafted and is once an “if” at one point or another. |

When this team is primed to make a deep playoff run, which Sabre(s) will be playing on their ELC? |

It's risk vs reward.
Great players on cheap contracts come from every round of the draft. You can trade 177th overall for McDavid and while the chances are slim to none, you can't guarantee you're getting the better deal. You can also deal Mike Weber for a 1st, but have it never amount to a single game played.
Here's a good story:
On July 8th, 1995, the Sabres traded the great Alexander Mogilny and a 5th rounder to the Nucks for an undersized checking forward named Michael Peca, a cast off in Michael Wilson and a 1st round pick.
Moginly went insane during that first Nucks season, amassing 107 pts in 79 games. However, within 2 years he dropped to 45 pts and was off the team in NJ by 1999.
That first round pick we acquired in the trade turned into a guy you may have heard of, named Jay McKee.
So on one hand, the Canucks got the best player, temporarily. We got our Captain, Michael Peca and a decade of Jay McKee.
Just goes to show how much of a crap shoot it all is. At first, you could've said Vancouver won that trade, be right, then say they lost it 2 years later and also be right. |

Sabres also traded Wilson for Rhett Warner who then was traded for Chris Drury...

I just followed this down a rabbit hole.
If I'm reading it correctly, the 3rd we received for Mike Weber from the capitals was used to acquire Beaulieu who was traded for a 6th in 2019 - Lukas Rousek
The Canadiens selected Cale Fleury

Ok, yeah, I couldn't figure out if it was that was our pick or the other pick. It was 89th overall, so that makes sense. I done goofed |

I don't know why I'm stepping in dog poop but here goes..
Does wanting to be traded to get more ice time in a 30 y/o contract year equate to a bad attitude? - TheSabresTaco
He's got the same agent as Mitch Marner. I think that's all that needs to be said. Taylor Hall too, for that matter. Darren Ferris. Nice name, wiener. |

One thing for me
The media often blows things out of context. Is he being hammered from saying something like if they arent goign to play me yes id rather be traded than sitting or something to that extent. - hubie
The fact he went public with it is the problem. People say Evander Kane has a poopty attitude, and it took him 4 years to get out of Winnipeg, and it didn't go public until he was actually traded here. |

It makes complete sense. It’s why I didn’t flip my lid when I saw we got back futures for ROR.
Now if Tage and Johnson don’t work out then all we have to show for it is Colin Miller which hurts. |

I’m glad Tage is doing well in Rochester,
but i still don’t know about him
I’ll happily take the “i told you so” if he ever scores 25 for us
But that ROR trade was terrible
Especially so bc everyone still saying how we need to trade for a 2C
Maybe we just shouldn’t have given one away?? |
