I just read an article that he and Ovechkin plan on signing team-friendly contracts to play out their careers there and that Backstrom is negotiating without an agent, even. Both of them are going to sign contracts that transition them into management roles within the organization.

Play winger during contract year with all world center- winger scores 40 goals you give him a huge new contract- then you decide not to play him with all world center anymore- it makes absolutely no sense
