I've said all season my expectations are tempered this season with the Canuck's
They are slowly figuring things out. Some things I like, others not so much.
They've got a tough road ahead of them. |

While I don't have any real hate for Green, it is starting to feel like coaching is holding the team back. |

October - #teampompom
November - #teamwhiner
December - #teamwhiner (so far)...
#teampompom needs a HUGE January to make it 2-2 but still it's only December lol
Can it happen??

Opposing teams are able to break out too easily against the Canucks' forecheck, and the Canucks routinely struggle to get the puck out of their own zone. |

3-4-0 with 6 more games in December, too early to call a victor just yet.
Feels like the rest of december/early january will determine a lot about where the Canucks finish. |

It astounds me there are nights they make their opponents look silly, while others they can't make basic passes.
I noticed while watching one of the PPs last night, Petey, Brock, Miller all had the puck in their own end and just kept starting to break out, then back passing, basically just waiting for Hughes to do it cause none of them could manage it. |

I’m undecided on if it’s coaching. If it is who out there could change it up & sustain it? |

I'm not going to pretend to know who would make good coaching candidates, or even try to nail down what the issues are in the current system.
It's just that watching the games you can tell there is something fundamentally wrong with the way guys are set up and what plays they're trying to make. |

I’m seeing teams pressure us on break outs. Not too impressed with our passing & teams have noticed. Team speed looks tired at times. VGK is impressive on the forecheck. |

I think a good portion of that has to do with player confidence in how their system matches up against the opponent. Even the slightest hesitation in reads throws everything off, and the whole team soon looks lost.
I think Green's pressure system worked earlier in the season when teams were playing with less structure, but it hasn't evolved much. Teams have studied what they're giving up and are exploiting that effectively. |

It definitely feels that way. Even on a night where they give up equal chances to a night in Oct, they're getting scored on more often now because teams are ready for it. |

This was discussed at length here some time ago. Green was the right pick for a young rebuilding team, plus no high end coach or manager would be interested in starting from scratch. Once the team was looking like it was ready to compete, you bring in a closer who can go head to head with the playoff coaches. So here's the magic question, are we there yet? |

It’s the coaching system. Green’s plan is to not complete a pass, not be in game shape so that the team is tired on back to backs and only score power play goals once every three games. They guys are really buying in. |
