Ek says we're getting Vatanen

Can he play defense, or is it yet another offensive Dman who can't defend?

I worked a 100 hours a week and liked it - Boomers probably
- senstroll

So true

Some people obviously are forced to work crazy hours because of the decisions they have made in life...but some people do it by choice and talk down to people who don't.

Unless you are super passionate about what you do, go enjoy yourself and help your family/others enjoy their life.

Keefe is a breath of fresh air. Moving nylander to lw is long overdue. He was dominant in last 2 world championships at lw
- TML IS ALL THAT MATTERS

just a reminder ... the World Championships are played on Olympic sized ice rinks - where no one ever goes near the boards.

I'm not sure...but that might be a little different than the NHL... maybe

Well Petro is a top 8 D in the league.

Vatanen has been a good top pair on a NJD team.

In the past two years he has had success playing as the top guy.

- Santo_44

I'm not sure I'd call it a success but yes, he's been playing top pair minutes on the Devils the last season two seasons.

what do the ultra-smart younger generations need pension plans for? I thought that they were all going to be independently wealthy ... just as soon as the old guys got out of their way?

be honest, you young guys are just worried that the older generation might actually spend most of their inheritance before they can get their hands on it

dat's the plan baby

Who is saying that?

most I know are just trying to afford a home for 500k that cost thier parents $3

That's likely how productive people are anyway.

Once upon a time, I worked for an organization where from May 24 to Labour Day, the office closed on Fridays at 1 pm.

I got more poop done in those four hours than any other day of the week.

Yeah.....and he has done a great job.

I'd call that a success.

He has improved from his 2nd pair label he had on the Ducks.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I'd go for a defender with more size if I were the Leafs.
- RickJames77

yup... you and every other hockey fan who has watched a playoff series and actually learned something in the past 20 years.

unfortunately, there are those who will respond or think that "size doesn't matter"...

Chara would have had exactly the same career if he was 5'9"

If the stats that folks are willingly blinding themselves with are telling them reach isn't an asset when defending ... amongst other thinks - well then keep drafting those little guys.

the statistic that matters most - playoff wins - will tell you otherwise

size?

Who cares. Spugreon is one of the best defenders in the league and he is small as (frank).

- Santo_44

In the playoffs? Yes, size is very important.

He’s more Spurgeon and less Barrie, if that helps.

do any of them ever consider going to live somewhere else - where the real estate prices aren't as high?

or do they really HAVE to live in the GTA... so that they can say they can get to a world class theatre and restaurants?

how was it that the house their parents bought for $3 actually cost $3 back then?

Is he? I've never met him.

The player that you describe there describes Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Rielly, Barrie, Ceci, Gauthier . . .

Again, and it's been said before - we know what Nylander brings to the table, and it's an extremely valuable skillset, but we need to stop expecting him to be someone he isn't.

I don't expect Marner to physically grind in corners. I don't expect him to block shots. I don't expect Tavares to block shots or throw big hits. I don't expect Matthews to block shots, but I wish he would use his body more. I don't expect Nylander to physically grind in corners either.

Similar to Marner - that's not a battle they win. Smart players use their tools to their advantage not to give someone else an advantage over them.

- Monkeypunk

Nylander and Marner are nothing alike.

Nylander does not possess an extremely valuable skill set, lol.

What's interesting is a lot of these people have remote jobs but still choose to live in and around the core of Toronto.

You can move further out like Newcastle if you can remotely work and live a far cheaper lifestyle.
