No one is saying you have to like the guy fact is the reason he is on the team is to be the guy who available in case of emergency. Flyers are at that point right now. Once everyone gets healthy, he's back in the press box. The expectation is that he is going to sit out for long stretches which is not good for younger players. They can only improve if they are playing 10+ mins a game. A guy like Stewart is not going to get better. He is what he is, it doesnt hurt him to spend long stretches in the press box. I dont understand why people like you make a huge deal over something thats barely relevant..... - xShoot4WarAmpsx

We'll see about that based on the flying elbow to the head that Ryan Ellis delivered to the Rangers last night that only got him a 2 minute minor - arichardson22
Yeah, that was ridiculous. I haven't looked yet - is he getting a hearing? |

I haven't seen anything online yet, but maybe the hearing is announced today. Would be absolutely ridiculous if he doesn't get one while Farabee got 3 games. |

NHL again makes a mockery of the suspension process. Just a reminder that Shea Weber grabbed Henrik Zetterberg's helmet (with head in it) and shoved it into the glass, cracking the helmet in half. Zero games suspended. |

According top cap friendly the flyers have $57, 336 in cap space. - corduroy
Even if they had space they do not have a free roster spot. 3 players are hurt/suspended and cannot play but are not on LTIR. Laughton, Pitlick and Farabee.
They could send Myers down and recall a forward if they wanted to level out the lines. Just a tough situation. Really need the PP and the top guys to get it done for the next four games. |

Looking at that 2nd line I think I'm getting some more Xmas shopping done tonight. |

HB posters have converted me. I am a HUGE Stewie fan. He is helping out NoPa everyday. That in and of itself is worth the cap hit and roster slot.

Stuart should have not been signed. Ever. However, he was; and he was enjoying pop corn while everyone was healthy. With so many folks out he must, unfortunately, play.
But if you think that his presence (i cant call whatever he is doing "play") causing Flyers losing streak and scoring troubles, you are not honest with yourself.
JVR, Hayes, Voracek, and to some extent Roo have not escalated themselves in the time of adversity. I am more concerned with them as not only they are leaders of the team , but also their expectations are much greater then Stewart's. |

Is there any timetable to Laughton and Pitlick - bulet13
Pitlick got concussed on Saturday; those things never have a timetable.
Laughton has a groin injury and the only word on him is that it isn't a day-to-day situation and he may miss some time.

Despite their injury woes, tonight is winnable. I just don't have a good feeling about it. I really want to see 28/14/93 just takeover but I don't have the confidence in it. |

I agree he should not have been signed.
Which player would you have signed to be a 13th forward? Keep in mind the guy would need to be comfortable knowing he could be be sitting in the pressbox for long stretches of the season and even in the case of one or two injuries was probably going to be bypassed in favor of a callup when at all possible.
Do we know a lot of players like that? Because some of the names Ive seen floated in here I doubt would have accepted that role.
Edit: I just realized this reads like I am challenging you and I am really trying to reinforce your point. |

Stewart isn't a disgrace. He's a good guy trying to do his job.
His boss hired him to do just that.
Why would it be considered a disgrace for a team to ice a guy who is on standby when the cupboard is bare?
The best ability is availability. Steweie has this sewn up. |

So you’re saying that’s enough to get Kovalchuk in a Flyers jersey? 😉 |
