Amerks lose to last place Binghamton last night 2-1

Mitts had two shots and a -1. He played on a line with Leier and Ogelvie. Per Let's Go Amerks he had an ok game, had some good faceoff wins, a few turnovers and set up Casey Nelson for a scoring chance, not much else. Bingo made sure he didn't get much time and space with the puck.

I think there should be genuine concern about Mitts right now. Taylor put him with two scoring wingers last night and he got nothing. He should have went to Rochester last year and he didn't. In my view he should stay down there the rest of the season regardless of how well he does. If they have to recall a forward, juts bring up Lazar.

Going into next year, he'll probably sign a 1 year deal and should start the year in Rochester.

On a side note, Ruotsalainen is having a great year for Ilves in the Finnish league- 7g 12a in 20 games and I would put him ahead of Mitts on the depth chart next year. I think he'll be a Sabre.

Still, for the kind of money Skinner is making, it's not acceptable to say, "He's not playing with good players." What happened to big-money guys making plays once in a while and elevating the play of those around them?

Of late, Skinner has been invisible on the ice. He's skating away from contact, not driving deep in the offensive zone. The Sabres need a legitimate No. 2 center and good luck to them in finding one, maybe not until they give No. 1 pick Dylan Cozens a chance to earn that job next year. But for $9 million, is Skinner incapable of driving any play himself?

Eichel's streak isn't going to last forever. He's going to need more help. It has to start with Skinner, but he's been so bad of late that Krueger isn't using him on the power play and, like Phil Housley, doesn't trust him enough defensively to use him much in overtime.
