I have to believe that StevieY is looking for futures and something to stick in the lineup this year at F for Larkin, and it would be an overpayment
Montour, Pilut, Mitts, Bogo (50% retained), 2020 1st-top 5 protected - IonSabres
That's a lot, but Larkin is a basically 1C-2C, Skinner would look nice next to him. |

He’s too busy trying to figure out “who this team is” because it’s not like 95% of the roster hasn't been here since he got here. |

Ya, I suck at trade proposals I've been told, and probably do.
Larkin is a kid I always liked, he gets 60 - 70 points on a poopty team.
I doubt they would move him unless blown away. |

Based on his track record, nothing of significance is happening until the trade deadline and the offseason. |

That's where the conundrum comes in.
He have nothing of great value to give in a trade.
Quantity not quality on defense
Player in player out at forward.
Cozens off limits - Boss34
I hope he has something up his sleeve
By tomorrow at 10pm we could be in 10th place in the East

That's why that proposal doesn't sound out of the box. Plus they will have a shot at the best Center coming out at the draft. |

that is the market value though
you can't compare him to guys signed 3 years ago with similar value
Marcus Johansson got 4.5 mil putting up .5 ppg for 2 injury plagued seasons
skunk will get 7 mil
either you retain him, or you move him for 3 prospects, and the other team gets the better player
we need to add decent players, not subtract
we need the prospect pool filled with wingers, and hope cozens becomes that second line center or casey gets his head out of his ass
aside from tage, what true winger prospects do we have that even has 3rd line nhl potential? - homiedclown
Or you offer Sam and a 2021 first and try to aim higher. |

They also have a ton of rfas to sign with very little money to do so |

And they have Veleno coming and if they draft Byfield plus they have Holmstrom. Maybe you could overwhelm them with a offer |

Question: Does it matter how deep a draft is if you wont be around to see those picks come to fruit?
If they miss the playoffs this year hes in trouble and if they are even remotely off next year hes gone.
For example, does Murray get a new GM job cause he draft VO? - hubie
Not necessarily, if he misses next year though he’s gone. As long as they don’t completely bottom out he’ll be here next year.
The last GM made deals quick fix deals and got us into this mess in the first place.
Chevy was given 6 years in Winnipeg to get them together and they drafted Laine, Connor, Morissey, Trouba, Ehlers, Scheifele, and I don’t see many of their fans complaining that it took 6 years to build a contending core. |

Respectfully disagree. Larkin isnt on that level
Regardless, there isnt a single reality in the multiverse where Botterill would trade a 1st and Cozens for a player
Which is the problem with most of this. We're looking at trading a 2nd for a 3rd liner - jcragcrumple
Larkin is not on that level, however it’s supply and demand man. How many times do Centers get moved ? Especially those 25 and younger ?
I can name a dozen wingers that have changed teams and had a net positive impact on their new clubs that’s why I sit here and female dog and complain that we paid $9M for one.
The wingers might not be as good as Skinner, however they don’t have to be if you are built down the middle and on the backend. |

What 2c is available that even the sabres best assets can bring in? - washedup20
Pray to god that mitts figured it out, that Cozens continues his development, or we hit on this upcoming first rounder and find a stop gap in the meantime. |

The sad part is, if the Red Wings get Byfield. They are already above us. Having Larkin and Byfield as a 1-2 combo would be deadly. |

?
In the last 5 seasons they missed the playoffs twice
once missed wc by 7 points
THe other by 9
while we were missing by 20 in one year
Since 2011 when they relocated they missed 5 times
We have not made the playoffs once |

For arguments sake how many players were sent to the minors and figured it out to become a top 6 center? |

Yes and they got 4 of their top 6 forwards and a top 4 d-man in those 5 years. Unfortunately Trouba wanted out or else that’s an impressive haul.

everybody is against the cap, he sucks and all we are getting is a 6th or 7th.. the best thing is it would free some space to hopefully allow for another more siginficant trade, but i bet we have to eat celery to make it happen even for a 6th |
