Ehhhhhh..... not entirely true.
Climate and the preferences of a significant other matter as well.
Dzingel cited the ability for his wife to continue working in her career in golf as a reason they chose to take less money and go to Raleigh. - BINGO!
The next time a marquee player signs for less than six million, you can say they care about winning a cup.
It's all about money. There's really no change in your lifestyle if you're making 40 million over 8 years or 80 million over 8 years. You're still rich enough to do pretty much anything you'd ever want with 40, but 80 million doesn't make you stupid rich.
Tavares wasn't going home if they weren't going to pay him 11 million. |

You can want to get the most money possible and still care about winning a Cup. I have serious doubts Tavares would've gone back to Toronto if they were basement dwellers. |

Uh, why? - RogerRoeper
Because that is what Ek does. He throws darts and sees where it lands. Just like he has placed Ryan Miller, and Vatanen as E4 to Toronto......... |

Eklund: Calgary Believed to Be Where Hall Is Heading this Summer. - Eklund
it's taylor hall. is this really a big deal? he's won nothing and done nothing since becoming an nhl player. teams aren't failing him, he's failing all the teams that keep trading him. obviously he's not a winner at the nhl level, just a guy who scores points for teams that go nowhere. he's not a star, teams should not be built around him, it's probably best he take a secondary role on a team if he wants to win cups. he's basically phil kessel and kessel won cups in a secondary role on the pens. |

Plenty of time for Ken King to screw this one up.......missed the boat in this one , should have been a one for one trade; Hall for Gaudreau (contingent upon Hall signing long term contract). |

Very glad they 'missed the boat'. If they're going to move Gaudreau I want more than a pending ufa. |

Exactly where is the cap space going to come from for Calgary to sign Hall? They had to maneuver to get Tkachuk signed this summer, so unless they have a lot of expiring contracts (I admittedly don’t care enough to loo it up), how are they going to overpay Hall? |
