The next time a marquee player signs for less than six million, you can say they care about winning a cup.
It's all about money. There's really no change in your lifestyle if you're making 40 million over 8 years or 80 million over 8 years. You're still rich enough to do pretty much anything you'd ever want with 40, but 80 million doesn't make you stupid rich.
Tavares wasn't going home if they weren't going to pay him 11 million. - Hunkulese
Completely agree. Even if the Islanders topped the offer by a million, he was still going to Toronto though. But 11 million per + home got it done. So Hall might sign in Cgy for 9.5 mil, but if another team offers 11, he probably won't, and I doubt Calgary offers him more than 9.5 per. Also, his parents don't live in Calgary anymore, he moved to Kingston when he was 13 and spent his teenage years in Ontario - Kingston and Windsor. So it's not like Calgary is really really home for him. I believe his parents still live in Kingston.
To be fair early reports are that it was 80% Habs fans, bar none best fans in the league
This is on canucks fans selling their tix to Habs fans, or not buying tix to their team's home games. Roussel should be mad at his own fanbase, not at Habs fans!!
where in the Hall are they gonna get the cap space? - bulet13
Frolik (4.3 mil), Brodie (4.65 mil), Hamonic (3.85 mil), Talbot (2.75 mil), Jankowski (1.675 mil - RFA, but unlikely to be tendered at that amount again) all coming off the books. Only Kylington, Mangiapane, and R. Andersson to sign as RFA's, and a backup goalie. Plus cap to go up atleast 1.5 mil. I think the Flames could get it done at 9.2 -9.5 mil per if he would accept that.
Exactly where is the cap space going to come from for Calgary to sign Hall? They had to maneuver to get Tkachuk signed this summer, so unless they have a lot of expiring contracts (I admittedly don’t care enough to loo it up), how are they going to overpay Hall? - GSimp1
Easy. Tkachuk comes home to St. Louis and Hall signs in Calgary as a free agent. St Louis trades a few picks and a prospect for the rights to Tkachuk after he refuses to resign with the Flames and lets it be known he wants to leave

It'll only be 70% habs fans tonight. Calgary's way better.
i mean Hall won an MVP...so more awards than Tavares? - bulet13
who cares about tavares? irrelevant to the taylor hall convo. taylor hall 'winning' the hart trophy a year ago was suspect as there were much more deserving potential recipients that season. the popularity of the game has been diminishing for years, so the powers that be thought that for the good of the game they had to name a former 1st overall pick like hall as hart winner as part of their marketing scheme for the league to make it seem like the new breed are doing as good or better than previous era's nhl stars. taylor hall is not a legit nhl star, he is an over hyped disappointment.
