Pretty much right? - VanHockeyGuy
Jacob Markstrom when asked if he learned anything about his team tonight, given the stakes and physicality of the game: “nothing that I didn’t know before.” #Canucks
--------------------
I had thought after a few of the games a week or two ago that they looked like they were ready to pack it in.
I'd need to see a much much more nightly consistent effort before I leave #teamtank. Just because the state of the contracts on the team. I'd rather get assets for certain players and see where some of the prospects are at. |

Did the team "buy in" to Green's systems last night? - manvanfan
I think they bought into being run by the GK, and the refs turning their heads. They bought into finally sticking up for each other.
But in the end, they did blow a two goal lead, and then a third period lead. The only impressive thing was Hughes, Pettersson and Virtanen. |

I thought Virtanen had a super strong game. Love that whack he gave to JM after he gave Gaudette a cheap cross check. |

Let's see how this home stand wraps up. - VanHockeyGuy
I think win or lose there are some good things happening. I am happy to see JV Gauds Fatty and Leivo taking steps forward. |

Marky made key saves when he absolutely needed too.
Miller (frank)ed up but then did what needed to be done to contribute to a goal at the other end. Get to the net.
Hughes I thought was pretty poor in the game. Caught watching more than a few times. |

He's becoming a more complete player. Getting closer to his draft slot.
From his draft year 16th in scoring but 39th in ice time. MDC has 4 points in 26 games this season
Sam Bennett has 5 points in 22 games. |

I think Roussel has been great on his return. I like that 3rd line.

I've been saying it for a bit. Getting rid of JV is a mistake. |

As Nucker said yesterday, he's getting put in a better situation not having to play with Bennings 3rd line plugs. Gaudette has WAY more offensive skillz than Sutter and it goes without saying that when he plays with any one of Horvat, Miller, Boeser or Pettersson he's going to pick up points.
He is playing better too though, he's making better decisions and not giving up/turning over the puck so much. |

I like the third line too . Now if Green will leave them alone then we might be okay |

I have never wanted to trade him. Never liked where they picked him, that's more of a 12-20 in range in most drafts. It is what it is though. |

His interviews and everything is a more serious confidence vs. A young cockiness. I think JTM has been good for him.

Can't say that if you don't know what the return is. Jake has been just recently playing good , not like a long history to refer to |

The more I watch Hughes the more I'm noticing he's making good plays defensively, he still has the odd gaff now and again (which I've pointed out) but he's got a great stick which he needs for an undersized defenseman. For a kid that just turned 20 he played the most minutes last night, 23, he's been such a great addition to the club. |

IMHO the team is really missing Edler, they gave up 43 shots again last night, you don't win many nights playing that poor defensively. Eddie always plays against the others teams best offensive players, and for the most part does a great job of it.
If they can cutdown on his minutes and steer him away from the #1 PP unit (yay Q. Hughes) his fatigue factor won't be so high and he'll be a much better player for us. |

I've heard people say Jake could be another Tom Wilson. I agree. Maybe not as nasty but if he would just snap in the scrums once in a while he could earn himself a couple of mil per season more on his next deal. Two or three scraps and he might realize he's capable of bringing that into his game. No matter how you feel about fighting it would give him more space out on the ice. More space = more goals |

Everyone matures at their own rate, he's obviously one of the later bloomers, if you will. Some guys just aren't mature until later in life. I mean look at Donna, he's a drunken, immature mess most of his life, completely directionless, all he cares about is tomorrow.
Jake's coming around, Donna, not so much |

Latest study i've heard of has said that 26 for Women and 28 for Men is when most fully mature.
You are right some never do.
Power Forwards take time. Heck look at Brett Connelly, a failure for how many years, never broke 30 points. 46 last season and 22 in 33 this season. He's 27 now. |

Unless you are upgrading, a lateral move has never been worth it. Same with getting picks. |
