They really weren’t using skinner on the pp. seemed an odd utilization. They had him next to or behind the net. Not in front. And it was all passing up top unless someone got pressured.

I guess if you aren’t going to work skinner into the pp plans, may as well have him do something on pp2?

I forgave Botts for not getting that center last December when we went into free fall


12 months later, having the same issue is something that is not acceptable, esp when you have a super star center in his prime

Skinner is fine... He needs a capable center to feed him the puck. That's not on him. That's the GM's job. He is light years better the Okposo.

And you are partly right, playing the wings on Eichels line are going to inflate your stats some because Eichel is an elite center. Take away the "Elite" player and everyone else reverts back to the norm, For Skinner that is 30 goals a year and 50 points. I said in a previous post, I'm surprised he has 11 goals so far with Larson as his center.

Larsson and Skinner were a perfect analytical fit. One denies chances against, the other is good at generating chances.

Skinner is an individual player regardless. Eichel barely moved the needle for him. He had several chances last night and did not bury, whether you amount that to crappy luck or a hot goalie it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. It is a results driven business.

Serious question here. Why does the player take so much heat for making large Salaries when they really have NOTHING to do with the negotiations, that is the GM and Agents. Also, if we pay him large money and surround him with crap players are we still suppose to be angry with him because he is not producing?

Some people just cant get over that he makes 9 mil a year and is not scoring with Larson as his center or a winger or E-rod ( all suck)

Eichel elevated the guy by 10 points, and without him is the runaway candidate for the Hart.

Skinner is the Russel Westbrook of the NHL, individual player with great individual stats but only raises the play of himself.

Now Skinner isn’t married to a super model but the whole narrative that the player doesn’t have any input in the negotiation process is flawed.

Like ffs he forced his way here in the first place, do you think his agent said no Jeff you aren’t going anywhere else we are going to strangle Carolina and get you closer to home ?

Last night he had 4 shots and 2 prime scoring chances he couldn’t bury, playing with Skinner.

You keep saying this yet it’s continued to be false

Some of Larson's best offensive play as a Sabre was right next to Skinner. He's not going to make EVERYONE better as some players complement others better than some other players. But........if Skinner can make Larson a larger point producer than he has historically been....what does that say about him?

I’m fairly certain Botts thinks he already has his 2C, he just isn’t ready yet

So from his perspective...
Does he (likely) overpay to get a guy in here now,
who likely has a bigger Cap hit than we’d want, esp considering that we think our long term solution is right around the corner

It’s just not a smart idea to build a team for the long haul out of desperation

Our likely best chance for a quick short term fix is closer to the deadline

We need to qualify that statement a little, it was after a performance that clearly had several holes in it for ten games and was unsustainable.

There is plenty to say that the current pace the Sabres are on now will slow, but it shouldn't fall off dramatically as it did last year.

Skinner scored 40 goals once, has never had back to back 30 goal seasons in his career.

He is not a problem, but if Reinhart and Skinner are your 2nd and 3rd best forwards, that is a problem.

Sure, OK, but at the end of the day our GM was the one who said YES tot he contract and agreed to pay it. The Team always has the right to walk away.

This is just me. i don't ever blame the player for what they make. I say good for them, make as much as you can, while you can.
