Good post Ion, Merry Xmas. As much as I am not a fan of either player but I would put Larsson in the very good 4 star and Girgensons in the good 3 star. Erod is missing and I would put him in the 1 star category. I agree with the rest.
Going into the trade deadline, my guess is we'll move a few guys (Sheary, Vesey, Bogo, Scandella). Not saying all will be moved but teams might have interest.
Going into next year, I would only re-sign one of either Girgs or Larsson. The question is will the UFA's want to come back, especially if the season gets away from them. I would hope we see some guys from Rochester next year to balance out the cap (Borgen, Pilut, Tage), Cozens and Ruotsalainen. - mhp
Thanks MHP, same to you and yours.
Forgot about Routsalainen, it would be great if he panned out...think he needs 1 year in the AHL to adjust to the game over hear?
I really expected a move from Botts st the Xmas break, now I'm not sure he will make a longer term move at all this season..like you and Ho ie have said, probably sell of pending UFAs.
I bet coach K was hoping for a 2C under his tree this morning. Maybe a number of NHL D men will have eating accidents over the holidays and Botts will look like a genius.....it's good to have dreams
Your current pool of teams that are out of playoff contention at this point that seem likely to be out of it for the remainder of the season:
EAST - Ottawa, Detroit, NY Rangers, Devils, Blue Jackets (maybe?)
WEST - Chicago, San Jose, Anaheim, LA Kings
That's at least 7, and maybe as many as 9 teams that would not have an issue waiting to make a trade for fear of it costing them a chance at the playoffs.
That also does not factor in the rest of the teams as far as true hockey trades, even those most often occur in the offseason.

The Sabres have prospects on both Team USA and Team Canada in the World Juniors this year, and yet this is still the least excited I have been about the tournament in years.

Very excited to see samuelsson and cozens today at 1 pm. Should be a fun game. Usa is loaded this year.
Over under 100 goals for caulfield this tournament? (Sarcasm)

I wouldn’t put NYR, CBJ, or SJS there just yet. - Pegullaville
And I would put BUF in. If any of you think this team is still in playoff contention, I don't know what you've been watching the last 6 weeks. This team is TOAST. Again

I wouldn’t say “toast” but we’re hanging on by a thread .

Theres what, 24 or 25 players relevant to the lineup?? I can easily name 15 that I never need to see play even one more game.
I cant believe the team I loved so much my whole life has turned into one of the legit true JOKES in all of pro sports. enormous chunks of my life where they aren't even close to making the playoffs, let alone competing for championships.
