Well that’s a shame. I had a glimmer of hope that botts could swing big. But once Garth or ek post the “rumor” it’s as good as dead.... like rob ray saying the other teams pp has struggled.... - Gr8daygo

Well now he’s gonna die a golden knight. Lol.
His name has been tossed around here. Probably more as a cap casualty or the type of player we need. I never expected him to be available but it’s fun to dream. |

Was never on the block, go check out the Knights cap wise, he makes LESS THEN 5 mill a year for the next 6 years and you can play him on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd line. Why would they move him. |

1 guy will not be a GM's downfall.
YOU hope it will, but it won't.
Darcy (aka, Mr. Patience) lasted 16 years, yet he missed on 75% of his 1st rounders. - Powerslave
Because he had dirt on everyone, how else do you explain the ridiculous trades he pulled off? Also the team was at least pretty good for all but the end. |

The fact that no one here is really pissed, or bummed, or fuming about another lost season really says it all. There's just a shroud of apathy after years of continual failure |

Ran Eichel with Brady every single shift, when you take a teams only player away your odds of winning go way up - hubie
So many people have completely overblown the effect Brady Tkachuk had on that game.
It was far, FAR from what you are saying. |

Every new day under Botterill is a colossal waste of time. What the sabres need is someone to obtain and evaluate forwards. He sucks at both of those things. He's proven that time and time again - jcragcrumple

Yeah, maybe that’s the case.
What sucks is that whether it’s true or not, he isn’t getting fired anytime soon. - sbroads24
I believe you are right that he isn't getting fired anytime soon, BUT if they crater again, like they did last year, that might change, and he would deserve it. Especially if they continue to sit on 27 defensemen when one of their top 6 is still in Rochester while the likes of McCabe and Bogosian still play somehow. |

Garbage penalty, lost draw, McCabe sitting down between 2 players covering nobody = goal. Pretty simple. I’m starting to hate McCabe he’s good at nothing and has no sense of positioning - turbo044
You're only starting to hate McCabe's play?
I commend you on holding out for as long as you did 😅😂 |

Fell asleep early after dealing with my brothers two kids for 6+ hours. After that, it's good to get back to the sanity of this place along with peace and quiet in the house. |

Eh, I guess Sabre fans are used to it:
-buy into offseason moves
-excited over early season success
-resigned over regression to the mean
-rioting for late season slippage
-watch draft lottery intently
-pumped for draft slot
It’s how we do. Year after year...[/img] |

I have a feeling I should bookmark this but here it is again nonetheless
“It’s like people forget how bad Pittsburgh was in the early 2000’s as well and that has built them a core that has been in the playoffs every year since like Crosby’s 2nd year in the league and won them 3 cups.
The Blackhawks picked top 15, 6 years in a row from 2003-2008.
The Avalanche have been a yo-yo for the better part of the decade landing Mackinnon, Landeskog, Rantenen, Makar, Duchene, Jost.
The Lightning picked top 10, 5 times in 6 years between 2008-2013. The one year they didn’t they snagged Kucherov in the 2nd round.
The L.A Kings picked top 15, 8 years in a row between the years of 2003-2010.
I’ve beaten the Jets and Leafs roster building methods to death.
It’s almost like losing and picking higher in the first round leads to cups or teams that are on the brink of cups.
The Blues are the exception not the rule, but if you look at their drafts between the years of 2005-2014 look at all of the names that were homegrown on that cup team.”
Botterill himself is out of excuses next year due to the fact he’ll have full autonomy on 95% of the roster. I will riot if we don’t make it next year. |

what's our record once taylor went back to rochester? - homiedclown
Taylor went back to Rochester on Nov 23rd so since Granato returned the Sabres are 7-6-4.
And FWIW I'm not enamored with the Sabres assistants, particularly Granato and Smith. I thought Smith did a decent job last year but he has to stop with the McCabe-Risto pairing. Granato rode the coattails of Quennville in Chicago and I'm not overly impressed with him, although he hasn't been here long.
We know how the season will end and there will be more changes. I wouldn't mind Taylor here next year as Krueger's top assistant. I think he's earned it. |

Maybe that the only way we get some semblance of a president of hockey ops...
Taylor as assistant next year. 2020-21
Taylor takes over head coach 2021-22
Ralph moves to the front office to work with botts... 2021-22.

That could certainly happen. The experience he got here early in the season will only help him in the future.
I'm not on the 'let's fire Botterill' train because frankly I don't see Pegula doing it. He knows he needs stability in the Sabres organization and he's gonna extend his leash on Botts as long as he can.
I don't like some of he moves Botts has made but this season has gone the way I expected. They are just a .500 team. Nothing more, nothing less. Botts has lots of cap space to play with in the off season and let's see what he does. I have a few ideas on what needs to be done and hopefully Botts will succeed because I want him to.

Pretty much this.
They want the Bills and Sabres both to have continuity and from what it sounds like Pegula is done with constant change |
