Botts brought in all three of those guys....
Well two and he gave the other a ridiculous contract.
So yea he is to blame for Vesey, Sheary, Scandella, Johansson and Erod.
Those are his guys. - ImThatGuy
Mojo was and is a good signing. He is what he is - a good 3rd line winger with 40-45 pt potential with great zone entries. He should not be on the 2nd line.
Scandella and Pommer for Ennis and Foligno was and is a wash. The trade was fine.
Erod had a decent year last year and we should have expected him to take the next step.
No one expected Vesey to have 4 goals at this point. He has been nothing but consistent over his career as a 16/17 goal scorer who plays decent defense.
Botts didn't fail with these guys. They should have provided some secondary scoring.
Where Botts failed was not bringing in the elusive 2C. But we all know that already. |

Eh. I had a problem with just about every move Murray made
I think his approach was awful
I like Botterill’s strategy of building with D and centers
I also like his trades for the most part
I don’t agree with how he’s handled this years roster, at all. - sbroads24
Most of the frustration from me is how he's hoarding defensemen and not addressing the most obvious issue, especially after watching the team burn in flames last season when they had a real chance at the playoffs.
Also, what centers? Mittelstadt? Cozens?
You can build with young centers while also being fully aware they need some kind of veteran support and insulation. He hasn't provided that one bit at the center position. You could also argue it's questionable how he values veteran forwards. |

I saw botts this morning. Looked busy.
I like most of those players, but who is going to trade for them? Erod, bogo, injured sobatka, injured tage, overpaid okposo? Scandella maybe, but your basically including top picks. Larsson and girgs have earned another Sabres contract in my opinion. Why trade them and what's the return? Who wants mitts right now? Wouldnt it be trading at an all time low?
In my opinion, were not close enough to mortgage the future. Yes, I understand its eichels prime, but certainly not dahlins - Boss34
We mortgaged the future with the Kane and ROR trades, and it helped bring us to this mess. |

Botterill gave 2 good players away, regardless how some feel about each. We got nothing in return. |

In retrospect those are his fault, but he wouldn't have had to do most of it if the farm system hadn't been bled dry by Murray's 22 trades |

We did get Montour for Kane essentially.
Let’s see what Botts does with the cap space and Thompson and Johnson before we completely write off the trade |

Well rumor has it that he was told to trade them by his bosses. Plus Montour isn't bad, Tage we still don't know about. Johnson looks like a decent prospect. |

That's great, for the future, but none of those were ready last year nor this year, and perhaps not next year.
That doesn't help a team that last year and this year could have been a playoff team, potentially, if he addressed the lack of NHL Center depth. |

The Phil Housley team last year? They weren’t making the playoffs with another center.
They were the worst defensive team in hockey |

Sharks in last place go way beyond Evander Kane, anyone with hockey knowledge can see that. |

You seem to have a pretty good source, did he tell you anything, and could they have gotten a better return if the a team didn't have to pick up the bonus. And Kane was a UFA at the end of the year, how much more do you think he could of gotten. |

This team has controlled shot share more often then not. Much more talented then last year. |

He could have resigned Kane and ROR, that's all started with him voicing how pissed off he was. Botterill felt it was best to move him. |

My point is, we didn't win with the two guys that aren't here anymore, either.
We're probably in precisely the exact same spot if they're still here.
Overpaying for a winger who always leaves you wanting more (Kane) instead of the winger we have who's having a bit of a down year. |

ROR didn't need to be resigned, Kane was a punk while he was here and Kim Pegula wanted him gone is that not the truth. |
