There has been some good, and some bad with Samuelsson.
He was thought of enough to make the team and wear the “C”.
Perhaps his value is high and we can move him for a forward prospect of similar elk. - Pegullaville
It’s just getting ridiculous the negativity around this team.
We’re actually not bad. Not really good, but not really bad either, with room to get better |

Honestly some Sabre fans are just garbage
I log onto to Sabres twitter and it’s just incessant complaining about Samuelsson the last two days. People seemingly rooting against him to succeed as a prospect because they hate the GM.
4-3 Sabres tonight
Skinner with 2
Eichel
Sam
Go (frank) yourselves - sbroads24
I actually like our GM. Yes, I'd like to have seen a move by now but I appreciate the patience at this point. We are very very close... |

True, it wouldnt make any sense that they are playing players together to try and win. - Mentalorgasm5
🙂
I guess I'm hoping they would win more if they split up sam and jack. Maybe?
Seems like we have a 2c spot open? |

Pretty sure the loss to the senators was the KO - jcragcrumple
A loss in game 38 ends the season? A game we outshot Ottawa like 44-31 and lost cuz there goalie played out of his skull? Interesting.... |

translation, we do not run into a super hot goalie 8 out of 10 games, our shots just are not very good |

My feeling is you dont lose a must-win game against the Ottawa Senators before the holiday break if you're a playoff team. Could they? Of course |

Perimeter.
Generally no one planted in front of the goalie.
Soft players.
That about covers it! |

That’s definitely an issue, but on the flip side we’ve also done a good job limiting good chances against.
I think Dahlin starting to come around is helping |

Draft Position:
Dahlin (1), Jokiharju (29), Asplund (33), Eichel (2), Reinhart (2), Montour (55), Lazar (17), Ristolainen (8), McCabe (44), Girgensons (14), Larsson (56), Skinner (7), Johansson (24), Scandella (55), Bogosian (3), Okposo (7), Thompson (26), Mittelstadt (8)
How fvcking much closer are we? TELL ME HOW MUCH CLOSER WE NEED TO BE.
I see literally an entire team made up of players picked in round 1 or 2 and literally every single coach that comes to Buffalo employs the same "dump-and-chase" bull-sh!t as the last coach.
TELL ME HOW WE ARE VERY VERY CLOSE KIND SIR. |

It was a chance to retain the playoff position or fall to 9th and start the slide toward obscurity. Is it the literal definition of must-win? No. But it was literally important to retaining a playoff spot, symbolically important that they can't beat the senators and it was one game removed from their worst performance in years (flyers).
Can they turn it around? Yes. Does this look anything like a playoff team currently? No. |

matthews and marner were playing playoff hockey in year 1
nylander in year 2
this is year 5 for eichel, he really needs to get playoff experience this spring
same for reinhart, dahlin, olofsson and risto |

The leafs didn’t completely bottom out. Guys like Kadri, Reilly, Gardiner, JVR, Bozak we’re there previously.
The Sabres had nothing, then traded an entire pipeline to acquire a few pieces and then lacked the depth they traded away.

Then why are there so many players who have objectionably bad attributes?
Tell me how actual skill and talent don't seem to dictate draft position? If they are being taken in the first two rounds, they must have shown some kind of finesse or creativity, so why then are so many of our players and NHL players fumbling idiots who can hardly skate, puck handle, make a pass tape to tape or shoot anywhere that isn't the glass behind the net or the goalie's chest logo?
Is this the "parity" the NHL keeps raving about?
I was always told that if you can't skate, you can't play the game. Well I was a better skater than half the players I see in the league, so what gives? And I wasn't even a great skater.
Not to mention the complete inability to hit the net or make a pass?
Why are there so many dump and chase systems in that case? Guys should have the ability to puck handle around the opposition with no issues... At the very least, odds should dictate that by sheer chance and luck, you should be doing S O M E T H I N G that is above your abilities at least a few times a game...
