if he was a third line winger
I liked it
not for second line center - homiedclown
What about as a 2C backup plan?
Bc everyone thought Mitts was gonna take a step forward this year...
It wasn’t JUST Botts |

You didn’t like the Skinner trade?
What about drafting of Mitts?
And of Cozens?
Did u like the MoJo signing?
I think everyone around here was happy with those moves
These guys that ppl are upset with like Sheary & Sobotka were brought in as placeholders till Botts could build his team
U gotta remember,
Reinhart was centering Pouliot & Griffith pre-Botts
And Girg & Larsson we’re regulars in top9 “scoring” roles
GMTM really trashed this team - jdfitz77
Nice try Lao Che. Its not gonna happen though.

I have not now, nor ever, pretended to know anything about the draft.
Girgs and Larry and Okposo are still in top-9 roles. Theyre the 3rd line. In fact, 8 of the 12 forwards, as I said last night, were picks by either Darcy or Murray.
Had Botterill filled 4 roles with halfway competent results, it's a playoff team |

Where’s GMTM drinking & chain smoking now-a-days?
He must have a lot of time to kill since no NHL franchise will hire him
Or AHL
Or NCAA
Or Juniors
Maybe he & Teddy Nolan can take over GM & Coaching duties in Mystery, Alaska |

Thanks for proving my point.
The Giants ruined the Pats perfect season because of Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan and Eli made just enough plays to win that day. - Pegullaville
I'm not proving your point, holy crap dude, what even is it?
You are NOT winning a Super Bowl in the modern era without a legitimite QB, or a decent enough QB having a career year.
of the last 19 Super Bowl winners, only 3 of them had what is arguably NOT a good QB: The Ravens twice and the Buccaneers. I would make the argument that Flacco was well above average during his tenure in Baltimore.
So, of the last 19 Super Bowl winners, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson were the only two QB's who were objectively bad.
Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rogers, Ben Roethlisberger, Russel Wilson... Are the other winners. And they even lost a handful of SB's between them...
This isn't 1985 dude. QB's win championships, not defense, aside from 1 or two exceptions. |

Top9 “defensive” roles
Which they’re doing a very good job at
That quite a bit different from Larsson as 2C at times & Girgs playing on the wing for Jack or ROR
Point is...
Botts has made moves to build depth in this organization at Center & Defense & Goalie
And he’s tried to patchwork some decent players to bridge the gap so we don’t have to watch the crap we had before, that hasn’t played in NHL games since they left
*and that’s a long list of guys i can name |

Larsson was literally the 2C last night with Mojo and Sam. Not very much has changed at all, really.
The long list of crap that you mentioned has continued with Botterill, and unless you're high on Thompson and Mittelstadt, Cozens is the only forward help coming any time soon that's going to make a noticeable difference. |

Trying is good and all but you can't succeed or fail if you don't try and Botts has decidedly NOT succeeded, so there's that. |

Sure but Goroppolo probably would not be in my top 8-10 QB’s right now in the NFL.
When did I say he was bad or you don’t need good QB play ? You don’t need elite QB play. |

Of the last 20 Superbowls, the same 7 QB's have been in all but something like 3 of them. At least 1 of them and in a lot of cases, against each other, even.
And here is Flaccoville trying to argue that it's defense that wins championships in the 2000's.
The word exception exists for a reason, and aside from a couple of exceptions, the general rule since 2000 is to have an elite QB and everything else comes after.
Seriously. The same 7 QBs have been in 17 of the last 20 Super Bowls. At least 1 of them. That is 85% of all Super Bowls including at least 1 of the same 7 QBs.

Garoppolo is 100% in the top-10 conversation. His starting record is something like 21-5 and he showed he can hang with the big boys multiple times this season.
Give it a rest dude, you're wrong. |

Sure and do you think it’s a coincidence that the best defensive minded coach in NFL history has 6 Super Bowl rings ?
Seriously Brady has more than Manning, Brees, Rodgers combined.

Welp, u got me
Larsson played 1 game in a “scoring role”
U really think that’s the same as how they’ve been exclusively used the last 2+ seasons?
Good grief
And the “long list of crap” is nowhere near as bad now as it was at forward
MoJo, Sheary, Vesey... hell, even Sobotka,
are major improvements over the guys we were forced to play a few seasons ago
GMTM screwed us bad
Dude, the guys he’s gotten rid of aren’t even NHLers anymore
And a big part of the reason we don’t have much coming at forward is again, GMTM |

He literally is the greatest QB of all-time and Bill doesn't win more than 1, if that, without him.
It's not a coincidence, it's TOM BRADY. If it weren't for TOM BRADY an ELITE QB, the sleeveless wonder would be spoken of in the same context as Brian Billick - Imagine if he only had a great QB, how many more Super Bowls he would have won with that defense...
The game has changed. What is it you don't understand?

None of those 3 guys are improvements over really anything. Sobotka was literally the 2nd worst forward in the league last year. He could have done basically the same on the waiver wire
He was given:
Olofsson-Eichel-Reinhart
Kane-ROR-Blank
Girgs-Larry-Okposo
Blank -Asplund- Erod
Kane and ROR - that's a can of worms - I get it. But the forwards have gone backward. Even on the Scandella trade, we'd be better off having saved that 3rd and kept Foligno. Ennis's contract would have ran out last year. We could sure use Foligno.
This team has gotten worse on the forward ranks, and like I said, there isnt a lot coming |

Peyton would have the same amount of Super Bowl rings as he does now because he managed the game like Jim Kelly did once he got to the Super Bowl.

Sure and how many elite QB’s have missed the playoffs due to having lass then stellar defences ?
If you watched the game last night you would have seen the record the Seahawks have had at home since the Legion of Boom was disbanded, 11-9.
You don’t draft Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa, and Deforest Buckner if you don’t suck.
The 49ers and Ravens ran the ball more than everyone else and each won their conferences.
Goroppolo is a good QB but probably the 5th best QB in the 6 teams that qualified in the NFC. - Pegullaville
Yeah, sorry, that's not why, the 06 Falcons when Vick ran for over a thousand and they finished first in rushing, finished 7-9. Lamar Jackson's 36 passing TDs to 6 INTs would like a word. Jackson led the league in passing TDs in 15 games. |

Most of these guys are generational QBs and all time greats. That era is almost over. Allen’s talent matches up well with the remainder of the QBs who will be around in 3 years. You won’t need a hall of fame QB to win. |

2000-2020 was the era of the QB. It would make sense that it took almost 20 years for defenses to catch up.
Same thing with Gretzky. He changed the game so much that he made goaltending better simply because it had to be. And that took damn near 20 years too. |

Payton Manning was probably what, the 2nd or 3rd best QB during the 1st half of Brady's career? So yeah, the 2nd best QB would win a lot too with Belichick. How many Superbowls would Andy Dalton have with Belichick? That's a more fun question |
