Ristolainen is a player with tremendous upside.

He plays physical, he is big and he can put up 40 points a year. He doesn't seem to get injured and he can be a real pest to play against. He was a top-10 pick, is entering his prime and has a great contract with term left.

I neither over nor under value Ristolainen.

He should however, at the very least get us a
- U Sir Name[b]middle-6 player and a 1st round pick in return.

We need a middle-6 guy more than we need Ristolainen.

Middle six would have less impact each game than Risto - wrong answer

Someone did a Cap Friendly Team with us making these trade deadline moves, and my commentary on them bc i found them interesting

TRADES:

BUF gets- DeSmith, Casey & Johnson, Jack
PIT gets- Scandella, Marco
-PIT does this in a heartbeat. DeSmith has been easily passed by Jarry, and is a 28yr old backup NHL goalie at best who’s doing just “ok” in the AHL this season. I don’t hate it, bc he’s been a decent backup for PIT last season or 2... but if he’s any good he’d have gotten claimed on waivers I’d think. Probably just rather get as high a pick as i can for Scandella.
And i no way am i taking back JJ for 4yrs. Hell no!


BUF gets- Wood, Miles
NJD gets- Hutton, Carter
-i don’t see NJ going for this. Why would they want another bad goalie? I do like Wood though, and he’s reportedly been on the block. We’d have to give a pick or B prospect I’d think. I’m cool with that


BUF gets- Athanasiou, Andreas
DET gets- Miller, Colin & Rodrigues, Evan
-another one i can’t see happening, not unless they really like Miller. I think Stevie Y would rather just get pick(s) &/or prospect(s)
And i don’t see him “selling low” on AA

WSH gets- Sheary, Conor
-yeah, sure, whatever. Might be less than a 3rd though
