And NONE of those teams were able to parlay all those top picks into much success

Just goes to show that having top pick doesn’t automatically equate to being a great team
There’s much more to it

- jdfitz77

New Jersey ended up being a dynasty in the mid-90s, so that's actually wrong.

Theres no excuse why this team shouldn't be in the playoffs

If I was Jack I would ask for a trade out of this hell hole after this year

just unbelievable

- gerbe75pts

I really doubt that happens, Jack's a smart hockey player, he knew what he was getting into when he signed. I would bet anything that if you asked him he would tell you he would have never expected 3/4 of the team to be in such slumps.

ita hit or miss like most teams
but Shanny Guerin Neidermier all helped that dynasty.
and i dont kwno what the muller trade is off hand but i bet they got something good

Too me its too long vs the other teams
should be since 2000 or something
I also missed they ended on 1987, but still those players got other good players in trades form 87 prior

Verbeek, Daneyko, Sean Burke, Kirk Muller, Kirk MacLean, were all either pieces of that team or parlayed to acquire pieces that were instrumental in becoming that dynasty.

Botts has made mistakes, namely the 2C, but he came into a poop storm, and had to basically get the whole franchise out of the toilet.

The website Boston hockey now is claiming the Blackhawks are scouting the bruins and Sabres for a d.

Cue the weird Sabres fans who think we want to trade for Patrick Kane lol

Get this franchise out of the toilet? When

Last 2 years people have Constantly said in the summertime ohhhh it's only August he will get a center ...

Then Casey Mysteriously has 7% body fat and everyone thinks OK hes gonna be the 2nd line center again

Shanahan wasn’t there for the “dynasty”
Niedermayer was AFTER the years in that streak of top8 picks

Guerin was the only top8 pick they had who was a big part of their “dynasty”

So they got ONE big piece out of all that losing & top picks

Not enough to say that stretch of picks was the reason for their “dynasty”

Brodeur picked 20th, then Niedermayer after that is what really turned them into a very good team for long
Again though...
Not that actual streak of picks

Zegras is most likely going to break the record for the most assist by a USA player

And besides Muller,
NONE of them were top8 picks in that streak

And even with Muller (or if u wanna day Shanahan too) that would be like giving GMTM credit for the player Jokiharju becomes bc we got him for Nylander

Nah, that kind of thinking is too much of a stretch
If the intent was to get Stevens,
they’d have drafted him instead of Shanahan

And back to what the point was...
a string of Top8 picks doesn’t necessarily mean squat

Especially when previous GMs have utterly destroyed any foundation of the organization

4th worst team in the conference ahead of only Ottawa, New Jersey and Detroit.

24th in league standings.

Year 6 of the rebuild.

We started 9-2–2

God damn it sucks to be a Buffalo fan.

- Beethoven

Not sure what people were realistically expecting with a roster populated by AHL caliber talent and first-round disappointments (Reinhart, Risto, Middlestats)

Bad team is bad. Go figure.
