I heard they talked a month a so ago, money will be the question as usual. Reinhart and Dahlin are his biggest concerns now. - SABRES 89
I’d like to see Sam signed before the end of the season! Could you get him at $7? |

25-11-3 would be 53 points in 39 games...
24- 10- 5
23- 9 -7
22- 8 -9 and so on

I hated it cause there were several forwards available in FA that could provide a better overall impact but they had to go add his cap hit and pay a 3rd rounder for it.
Not back breaking but the kind of bad asset management that if it occurs regularly can really hurt a team. - Sabresfan-365
I can't get worked up about UFA's who don't pick us. I can get very worked up about how few internal options we have for bottom 6 forwards.

Shorter, maybe 3 years. Buys out 1 year of UFA. If you're lucky, maybe a 4th.

I think I’d want more than 3 years... and I don’t want to pay $9.... I like $7... $8 starts to make me cringe. How many high price players can you have, especially on one line.
It’s not like you are paying for Sid and Geno down the middle... |

What do you expect the Cap to be in say 2025?
O/U 90 MIll?
If its under then imo its too much if its over 90 Mill then id be happy |

It’s a 3rd rounder for a 1 year rental who happens to be friends with the frustrated captain.
It’s really nothing on the scale of good or bad asset management - sbroads24
Exactly and who new he would have gone a 1/4 of the season without scoring |

So pretty much what he does every season, like every other 15-20 goal scorer does. |

Not sure of only 3 years, I'd say $7m gets more like 5 years
His comparables are the following, assuming he stays on pace for 65sh points...
-Monahan $6.4m, 7 years
-Forsberg $6m, 6 years
-Drouin $5.5m, 6 years
-Draisaitl $8.5m, 8 years is a stretch for $$$'s, but contract length should be good for parameters
The above were all younger than Sam when they signed, so they were paying for more RFA years than UFA years, which lowers the contract value, therefore the AVV.
However, RFA prices went up rather significantly last off season.
Net, net to me is shorter term, bigger bucks for Sam.
$7m gets 5 years,
$7.5+/- gets 6 years

It's at $81.5 now, right?
2020-2021 probably another small increase of say around 2%, so +$1.5m to $83.0m
2021-2022 say another 2%, so +$1.7m to $84.7
2022-2023 larger due to Seattle expansion, new TV deal in previous season ..so +5% of $4.2m = $88.9m
Should be at $90m by 2025. |

Tage didn't make the team out of camp, "Sobatka" sucks copious amounts of ass and should have been bought out, "Olloffson" has missed 1 game, and Skinner, yeah skinner hurts, but were in a tail slide well before he got hurt.
I wanted Lazar to make it out of camp. He was good in the preseason.
Now we've replaced "Sobatka" so yayyyyy, go Botterill. - jcragcrumple
If you include Casey m. And malcontent $2,000,000 flop erod
That's 6 forwards deep in injury / unexpected non rostered players.
For all your complaining, seems like we have adequate depth at forward. Too bad the 13th guy with no goals would have not demanded a trade. He missed his opportunity to get playing time.

I wondered the same until somebody told me the record number is much, MUCH higher than where this blog currently sits. |

THEY have an abundance of players....just very few Middle Six guys...but a poop load of 4th liners.
Jack - no replacement, not even a 2C to ask to step up
Sam - no replacement, not even a 3RW, let alone a 2RW
Olo - Skinner jumps in
Skinner - Mojo jumps in
Mojo as 2C, - yup, no one ... must depend on a rookie who projects as an average 3C/4C
Sobotka/Shezry as 2RW, ya, stugotz, nothing
2 guys to step up in the top 6.
Pathetic.

Maybe. Like you said, those deals bought out fewer UFA years and they are a little old. Sam has more leverage, and the option to file for arb.
