The Sabres are going to be exploited in order to keep good players for that draft.
History suggests that may be an error to pay up. - TheSabresTaco
I’m assuming they would take one of Asplund or Pilut.
I would honestly withhold 33% of Okposo’s deal and try to get Seattle to take him and include a first rounder to do so. I don’t think Okposo at $4M per would be impossible to move.

Option 1-
Keep:
Eichel
Skinner (need to)
Reinhart
Mittelstadt
Olofsson
Thompson (or TBD forward)
TBD forward
Dahlin
Montour
Ristolainen or Jokiharju
Ullmark
Lose one of Risto or Joker, Miller, or Pilut
Option 2-
Keep:
Eichel
Reinhart
Skinner
Olofsson
Dahlin
Risto
Joker
Montour
Ullmark
Lose 1 of Mitts, Asplund, Thompson, TBD forward, Pilut, Miller. Team needs to determine which group of players would hurt them less. A top 6 F or a top 4 D.

Hopefully we can find another candidate like Joker to buy low on.
I don't know what other prospects we have that could bring that potential back. - thatsapickle

Curious, Vegas used the free 1st round picks they acquired from idiot teams to draft Suzuki and Brannstrom, which were then traded for Pacioretty and Stone.
End of the day, they received both of those players for free. |

This is a very good post.
Another team gives vesey 4 + million a year, doesn't the player have to take some blame for not producing here?

chad denomiwhatever implied that maybe pilut was behind closed doors exploring a trade because he was still in rochester
so i think botterill has finally felt the pressure to stop being a dippoop |

speculation is fun, isn't it.
He had a clear path to the NHL starting next year. Had he forced his way here, he'd be here sooner.
It's the player's right to request a trade. Doesn't mean anyone will want you. Zach. Evan. |

He did. Because they played 11/7 and he was #7... of 7
Also, Bobrovsky has 6 years left after this season. lol |

Can you blame Pilut ? If I were one of the Sabres best 6 d-men and in Rochester strictly due to my two way contract and nothing performance related I’d ask out too. |

Pilut deserved to be here, he is at absolute worst the 4th best defenseman we have. The longer he spent in the AHL, the less money he gets on his next deal. Don't blame him at all.
Same with the other trades. Don't really care about the caliber of player requesting them. The GM created a cluster(frank) of mismanagement and players wanted out. Total failure. |

Why does everyone assume everything is so cut and dry. It's not. People never consider the business here. There's 8 dmen (till Scandella left) and Jokiharju clearly outplayed Pilut, so he got to stay. The org wants Pilut to play every game, just like UPL. His best chance to play every game is in Rochester, until now.
With Scandella gone, he gets every 11/7 game and the org can continue to probably deservedly spite Bogo and keep him in the box.
This is how this poop works. And it's speculation at best he explored a trade.
Let's try to remember that when Pilut was here, he was largely ineffective in the defensive zone, something this coach doesn't find acceptable. |

I wonder how long it takes until there's speculation that all 47 players under contract for this organization have asked for a trade.
"Trade me right (frank)ing now!" ("now, HANG UP!") is the new "Me, too" movement. |

it will be fun if he is up here and sits in the pressbox.. hopefully this means there is a trade in place for buy one get one... maybe we can get a 6th and then trade that 6th for another aging used to be some what ok middle 6 player who isn't a good middle six player anymore. |

It's becoming pretty boring to hear about. Players with expiring contracts that don't see a future with a team that doesn't want to play them. What else is (frank)ing new. |

It is speculation, but given the sentiment of other players within the past month, it's also not terribly far fetched either. |

So his overall game is definitely better than McCabe, Bogosian, Miller and Risto?
He hasn't shown that yet. Probably one or two of them. |
