He'd be terrific. I don't see them trading him...same with Dvorak who I'd rather see them bring in. Both on top line now with Hall and on PP, would be a huge hit to them. - IonSabres
Speaking of the cap strapped team that is the Coyotes, how about Carl Soderberg as a reasonable, short term UFA signing for the Center position?
He's having a solid season after a solid season last year. |

That's a great point. Hopefully they see us as winners and enjoy the "culture " and family atmosphere they have all been talking about.
Same could be said for the Sabres.
Wish we could turn the corner and have guys from Ontario "come home" and play for a cup.
I think allen and eichel would have some appeal? - Boss34
Allen is probably more of a draw than Eichel.
The Sabres as a whole seem like a disaster. |

Been wondering about Hutton who is clearly on the out. Could he be a part of a fresh start somewhere? Just trying to think of something different than we have talked about before. Its a rather cheap deal with another year of term. |

if you cut
yeldon, dimarco, kroft and murphy
you have 106 mil instead of 90 mil - homiedclown
I actually rather use yeldon next year and not sign an RB.
Kroft can go.
Murphy might have kept his roster spot with his last few games.
Dimarco can go |

speculation is fun, isn't it.
He had a clear path to the NHL starting next year. Had he forced his way here, he'd be here sooner.
It's the player's right to request a trade. Doesn't mean anyone will want you. Zach. Evan. - TheSabresTaco
Like Lazar didn't force his way here until other bums performed as expected and then got injured?
Also, to answer your other question: what have you seen this season from McCabe and Bogosian to believe their overall game is anything other than dogpoop?
Pilut has, at least, redeeming abilities like making outlet passes and helping produce offense. |

I think Pilut is too small for the NHL, maybe im old fashioned but I want my D men to be able to clear the front of the net and time again he hasnt been able to do so |

Is it me or does Bogo look significantly slower this year compared to previous years? He looks like he is skating through mud when going into the corners or trying to keep a forward to the outside.
Bogo is absolute crap. I can't wait until he is gone. If they could get a 7th for him in 2025 with no $ retained, i would be happy. |

If Gore retires, Yeldon probably still has a spot, unless they get a major upgrade.
Kroft and Murphy are the likely candidates, but if Shaq Lawson walks, they are all of a sudden even thinner at the one position on defense they were the thinnest. - buffalofan19
They're not cutting Kroft or Murphy. Murphy finally seems recovered from his knee injury and was dominant the last 2-3 weeks. Kroft the laud about in the lockerroom, so they'll see what he can do if he stays healthy. 106m under the cap vs. 90m makes very little difference - they're not spending all of either amount |

You don't spend cap money on RB's, even as good as a Henry type looks. Spend a mid round pick for a big back that can compliment Devon. |

+1 there are some good rb in the draft, pending some hits in free agency a 3/4 on a guy like Enos Benjamin from ASU. I personally dont like him but he could be good for the team. |

From Spector's page:
"THE ATHLETIC: Before Laviolette’s firing, Adam Vingan listed Mikael Granlund, Craig Smith, Nick Bonino, and Kyle Turris as possible trade candidates if Poile becomes a seller. Of the four, Bonino could have the most trade value."
This brings my idea of going for Bonino up again. Could fill our 2C spot and has a year remaining at a reasonable $4.1m.
Secondly, for the reports about Sabres scouting LA a lot recently, John Van Boxmeer is our scout in California and lives about a 1/2 hour from the arena. He's at Kings and Ducks games on a weekly basis. Unless they are sending additional scouts there (which there have been no reports about) then it doesn't seem like anything but status quo over on the west coast. If we are looking at a rental, there are better options than Toffoli. - adambuffalo
I like the idea of Bonino, do it, call Botts. |

i think if anyone is looking for a goalie they are first calling NYR.. but yes he could be presented as a trade option, but who would be actually interested in a back up goalie? would the devils want him for a stop gap |

I think the mentality above is at least partly from a bye gone era.
It would be completely from a bye gone era if they called all penalties like they used to and the flow of the game was at a super high speed like it was the year after the lockout. |

I forgot to add: he is an inch taller and 15 pounds heavier than Ryan Ellis.
I don't think he is too small at all at 5'11 and 195 (his weight after the past offseason). |

he stinks as a coach
may very well be a good man for a job higher up the ladder
but he flat out stinks as a head coach
I can give you 12 examples of how he is worse then housley |

Krueger seems like a players coach, and the team seems to buy in, but he also doesn't seem to have any urgency in making the team better.
I don't know what's being said behind closed doors, but I don't think he's throwing things around the locker room to get his point across. |

The year after the lockout where we had Numminen, McKee, Tallinder, Lydman, Kalinin and Campbell? Soupy is the only one that supports your claim. Pilut's size in itself isn't the issue. The issue is we have too many dmen on the smaller size. Watch the playoffs anytime and you'll see it's not a bygone era. Having the mentality of it being a bygone era is why our team is so soft right now. |
