I addressed that in the previous post. It was largely out of his control based on the roster he was handed. If he had played Olofsson on the 2nd line and he had mediocre production, we're largely in the same place.

He took a calculated gamble that his $9m winger could prop up a makeshift 2nd line. It may be fashionable to blame him, but just because it didn't work, that doesn't mean it was the wrong call

You know why my ex never played the slots? It was a waste of time. She new she'd hit a jackpot every time she played the ATM machine.

*You're right on the special teams

*The Mitts point is highly debatable. He was a -19 and .32 PPG with Housley

casey looked decent when given second line talent around him though under housley

The year after the lockout where we had Numminen, McKee, Tallinder, Lydman, Kalinin and Campbell? Soupy is the only one that supports your claim. Pilut's size in itself isn't the issue. The issue is we have too many dmen on the smaller size. Watch the playoffs anytime and you'll see it's not a bygone era. Having the mentality of it being a bygone era is why our team is so soft right now.

Oooops

Here come the stupid "face puncher" comments.

I happen to agree with you, this team is trending towards the most wussified team in the league.
Then everyone wonders why Cernac stands over Jack challenging anyone with balls enough to look him in the eye...because he can and knows it...one, just one did...that physical beast, Sam Reinhart.

The entire history of Casey Mittelstadt as a sabre was botched from day 1 by the GM. Krueger deserves 0 blame for that debacle

Even with playing with Eichel, Olofsson’s 5v5 analytics look grim at best.

I hate the contract, but Skinner on his own line was definitely the right move.

Have you seen Kaapo Kakko's 5v5 advanced stats? Now those are REALLY grim.

Also for playing a 40 goal scorer on the 3rd line with a 5 th line center, you can't find coaches with that kind of knowledge everyday.
- SABRES 89

Or a GM to once again deliver a subpar roster to a coaching staff that has a 1C and a bunch if 5th line C's and W trying to play C.
Krueger is smart, deftly showing Boots the impact of his decision to sit on his hands.

Back reading and found it amusing to see everyone talking about Pilut just like they did with Guhle

Pilut played well up here,
but also struggled quite a bit as well

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt considering he’s an 18 year old kid.

Svechnikov struggled last year as well and made a huge jump this year.

We’ve been spoiled as fans of the sport to see the amount of young talent that has come out and dominated quickly at the NHL level that we forget it’s normal for kids to struggle in a professional league.

Agreed on him being a young kid, but to be fair to Olofsson, he's still a rookie, despite being 24. No matter how good the Swedish Elite League is, it is not the NHL, and it should not be surprising he has his struggles 5v5.

Kakko's advanced stats are almost literally off the charts bad. He's worse than struggling, at least so far.

He hit a wall after the first 15 games, however he still had the 2nd best corsi of all Sabres d-men last year behind Montour.

He positively impacts the game on both ends of the ice. He also has played another half season of professional hockey in Rochester this year and leads all AHL d-men in PPG.

I’m not saying he’s Bobby Orr, but he’s definitely a #5 d-man with the possibility of becoming a good #4 at the NHL level.

He’s a left handed Joker.

Olofsson has definitely been better the past 20 games before the injury no doubt about it.

The Sabres are doing a much better job this year of limiting high danger chances. I think they are better defensively this year, and once we add the 2C I think it’s poised to take off.

I mean it's his watch

if your 4 year old child sneaks out of the house the babysitter gets part of the blame, right?

It's not all on the parents

Yikes. So a guy struggles, playing all over the lineup and it's half the coaches fault. Come on.
