It’s a rumor site.... and Toffoli has been bantered about in these parts so I thought I’d pass it along...
...GM, Jim Rutherford has been busy sending out feelers, and according to sources connected to the LA Kings, the two teams have discussed the framework of a blockbuster deal.
The hold up is tied around the retained salary the Kings are willing to agree to, as LA is looking to send multiple players to the Penguins in return for goaltender Matt Murray and future considerations.
The Penguins have zoned in on forwards Tyler Toffoli and Trevor Lewis, while also discussing goaltender Jonathan Quick.

I have a feeling Toffoli ends up in Boston. |

Looking more & more like the Caps will move on from Holtby & go with Samsonov in net next year
Holtby could be a really nice bridge,
so that we don’t need to rush 6k

I am miffed he is still not in the top 6 with olofsson and skinner out - homiedclown
I can’t believe they haven’t contacted Vanek at this point.

Johansson has done it for half of 1 AHL season
Holtby has proven how good he is year after year in the NHL |

I’m sure it would be pricy
Haven’t thought enough about it to say what I’d be willing to pay
But i do think he’d lock down the position for us for at least a few years
So it could be an option that’s at least worth considering |
|
|
|
He’s played half of 1 good season in the AHL,
with a really good group of defensemen in front of him
I’m not even close to thinking he’d be a good starter for the Sabres
He might be
But Holtby would be a sure thing - jdfitz77
So holtby is a ufa at seasons end. 30 years old Currently at $6.1... what’s your money and term?
And what do you do with... Hutton, Ullmark, Johansson, 6k...
Most see 6k as the future (I’m one of those). |

Holtby Ullmark
2.99 GAV. 2.83 GAV
9.02 SV%. 9.11 SV%
One plays on a stacked Washington team, the other plays here. Not to mention Holtby is probably going to get a long term deal for more money I’d probably stomach for him.
No thanks.

That’s the thing
I see 6k as the future here too
But if we don’t wanna waste MORE of Eichel’s prime while we wait for 6k to develop,
then a goalie like Holtby makes a lot of sense
We need better than our current duo
And we really have no clue how Johansson will be in the NHL
We do about Holtby though
Idk what kind of deal he’d want
I’m sure it would be a lot
It’s worth considering though |

I wonder if Holtby is declining,
or if it’s that their defense has been losing key parts for a few years now?
I wouldn’t want him for long term
The aav will definitely be up there though
And I’d feel much better about him in net than Ullmark |

I’d rather take a stab at one of Halak, Greiss, or Crawford on a 1-2 year deal.
Give Hutton away to Washington to back up Samsonov. |

I'd be more concerned about the years than the AAV. If he'd take a 1 or 2 year deal it would be interesting. |

I could be talked into that too
Just saw Bob McKenzie talking about Holtby during intermission & thought it was an idea worth chatting about
I don’t necessarily love Holtby
So if he wants a 6 or 7 year deal,
then no way
5 would even be pushing it
One of the guys u suggest for 2 or 3 years might be a better idea though
Give 6k at least a full year to start in Rochester
Then a year or more here as backup before he takes over as #1 |

I think 3 years would be ideal for any of the options
I would like us to pursue an upgrade over Hutton though
Maybe Johansson is?
But that’s a lot of inexperience in net
And if one of them falters or gets hurt,
who do we bring up?
6k i would guess
Pretty risky having only kids if we are trying to win |

So 3 years, $18m? That seems like market price. Might be light |

He had a sip of coffee before being moved for Neuvirth. Regardless, it’s 2020 and he’s a guy who can split time with Ullmark. Play them each 41 games for all I care. |
