Friedman says Botts is "working hard" to trade Erod.
Bogo's agent is working to find a destination. Once an agent gets involved, you know it's been a challenge for the GM to find something that works. This way, the agent can focus on making something work for his client while Jason can send his focus to the rest of the team.

Couple of tidbits from Spector today:
On Montreal - Bergevin could listen to offers for Max Domi if the pending RFA proves too expensive to re-sign. Chaumont suggests depth players such as Nate Thompson, Nick Cousins, and Brett Kulak could be peddled for draft picks. Tatar has a year left on his contract, but Bergevin could gauge his value in the trade market.
On the Isles - Lamoriello may still have to consider adding a veteran blueliner. Staple also examined how the Islanders could address their scoring drought on the wing. He suggested Ottawa’s Tyler Ennis and Vladislav Namestnikov, Los Angeles’ Tyler Toffoli, Buffalo’s Conor Sheary.
On Nashville - David Poile could become a seller at the trade deadline if his club fails to gain ground in the standings. Center Kyle Turris has been shopped. Others could include Craig Smith, Mikael Granlund, and perhaps Nick Bonino.
Also, If the Flames fail to improve this season, a major change such as moving Gaudreau won’t happen until the offseason.
Friedman also reports the Pittsburgh Penguins are in the market for a replacement for sidelined winger Jake Guentzel.
Friedman recently claimed there’s talk Saad could be available. |

Of all the players listed, the only one I have a moderate interest in is Bonino.

Exactly.
I watched him in Anaheim when he was out there.
I always liked what he and Palmieri brought.. |

It's odd to me that Botts and Sexton are all about developing young players but forced Mitts in the NHL too early. You're right, he should have stayed in college. - mhp
It’ll be interesting to see if what’s happened with Mitts has an effect on how they handle Cozens next year
It’s either NHL or back to JRs for him,
no AHL allowed
I suppose NCAA or a Euro league would also be possible |

Botts should be able to find a taker or E Rod pretty simply...
just has to start dialing the numbers of AHL teams |

I liked him in PGH. He’d fit well here, brings some nice traits and should know botts. Not sure what’d it cost, but I’m kicking tires... about 1.5 year left at 4mill. So you’d have to get bogo off the books. Or a money in - money out deal.... |

I’d be ok with Cozens making it out of camp, just not at 2c. Start him on the wing. Maybe, some 3c, situationally.... I don’t think jr’s help him.... euro is an interesting thought, thats what Mathews did, isn’t it? |

Couple trade ideas:
To Pittsburgh: Okposo and Sheary
To Buffalo: Galchenyuk and Jack Johnson
Pittsburgh gets forward help they have been looking for and get rid of two guys the fans have been trading away for two years.
Buffalo gets a UFA center who has been unsuccessfully forced to play wing and a defenseman who has seemed to re-find his game. KO and JJ both signed for 4 more years, but JJ is $2.75m less in salary.
Adding a dman is not ideal, however that is why I then call Toronto and offer either McCabe or Miller for Kasperi Kapanen. Toronto has plenty of scoring throughout their forward ranks, but definitely need help defensively. They have one defenseman signed past this season and although I don't want to help them, playing against Miller or McCabe wouldn't worry me.
Next, call the Isles and offer Bogo for Brassard. If you can add ERod for HoSang. They have capspace to take on the additional salary and perhaps Lou could get Bogo playing up to his potential again.
Finally, Vesey and which ever dman doesn't go in the Toronto trade to Nashville for Bonino. Vesey completes the tour of teams he wouldn't sign with getting traded to the team that drafted him and Nashville gets a younger dman to replace one of the three over 30 dmen that are UFAs. |

The CHL is considered a pro league as far as NCAA eligibility is concerned. Players get benefits that are on the NCAA's no-no list, even if it's not cash compensation. There is also a question as to whether he or his family has hired an agent yet. |

No, junior players are not NCAA eligible for some reason. It's in the CBA. |

I don't know if it's specifically mentioned in the CBA, but the NCAA won't allow players that played in the CHL into the NCAA either, regardless of what the NHL says. |

Signing his contract ended it for sure. CHL players have already lost their eligibility, since it's considered a pro league. Some appeal and get it back, but they generally have to sit out a year.
