Unfortunately...
I don’t think we are getting a true “2C” until either Mitts or Cozens (or both!) develop into one
My favorite trade target as a placeholder:
Bonino from NSH
He’s more of a 3C, but again, i don’t think we will get an actual 2C
Bonino is a solid 2way player who scores almost all his points 5v5 and is a good PK guy
Has 1year left after this at 4.1mil
He’ll be 32 to start next season
So we could let him go after next year if we think Mitts & Cozens are ready
Or we could likely re-sign him to a reasonable deal for another year or 2 or 3 even
And when one of the kids is ready for 2C,
bump him down into the 2way 3C role that he’s proven good at
That also would potentially free us up to drop Larsson, and use a Center with more offensive skill in his spot - jdfitz77
Bonino is a decent idea but may be a little ambitious for JB. He’s not rushing things and he’s very patient. I think that means he’s just going to hang on to what’s already here and wait for his draft picks to make it to the nhl. |

5 days off, and that is what they gave us
I honestly didn't expect them to win, but they didn't even compete last night
pathetic - homiedclown
well one guy did. When you see the Blues bracket coverage on Jack, and he still does what he does, then he's threading passes to dudes who can't do anything with them, you can see why he would be slightly unhappy. |

Eichel might be the most improved player in the NHL this season
finally becoming a complete player
it's a shame our gm wont build around him |

Would be the logical thing to do, but JB has shown no inclination to sell off impending free agents, even ones who’ve publicly asked to be traded. I hope he does, but history suggests otherwise. |

he's a beast. the problem I see is he needs Eichel jr. to play with. everybody gives him the puck and gets out of the way, which is smart, but then he drops dimes and guys are like DERP. it's annoying. great play by dahlin yesterday to give him room for the snipe. now let's trade him because he "sucks". |

maybe hutton, frolik and bog if money is retained
if they are not bringing back vesey or sheary, just move them now and give cj smith and asplund spots for the rest of the season with the big club

8 points ahead of the 30th place team
7 points behind the last playoff spot
based on what I saw yesterday we are closer to 30th place then 8th - homiedclown
Meh, after having ripped on Botts for not addressing the 2C and 2RW positions since late June, the reality is that it will be too late to have a meaningful impact...since it is more likely we don't see moves until closer to the TDL on Feb 24th.
IMO, the real question is do you trust Botterill to engineer the build portion of the rebuild.
As of now, it appears he is having significant difficulty in trading spare parts where the alternative is they walk away for nothing. |
