Great point but to deaf ears.... Nobody seems to pick up on the fact that the Sabres are a train wreck when it comes to player development.... - rapperray
Aside from having our #1 draft picks go directly to the nhl , like most teams do.
Eichel
Sam - 1 year of juniors
Dahlin
How about:
Risto
McCabe
Ullmark
Olloffson
Asplund
Seems like we developed some good players? |

I was at the game last night. Frolik looks kind of invisible despite Joho playing great on his line. Asplund and Sam aren’t working with Eichel. He seems to be getting frustrated with blown plays, at least that’s what I was seeing. Our defense is good in transition and through the neutral zone but is an abomination in our own end. I’ve never
seen such bad blown coverage. 3 of the lies goals were simple blown coverage.
Larsson looked pretty good. Girgs looks done, like he’s stopped trying. Rest we’re not very noticeable |

Just checkin to make sure I'm not banned. For some reason the gold 3ER posted last night got deleted? Like my uncle always used to tell me, when you're on top, everyone wants a shot at the belt. - Hatboro_Swords
I'll fight you for this mysterious belt you speak of. |

I think you hit on it.
I'm behind keeping Krueger, but his Assts have to go.
I'm getting real close to wanting Botts gone as well. I just find it difficult to accept the unbalanced roster he rolled into the season with in view of how obvious it was to everyone.
On the other hand, IMO, one of the main reasons to keep him is continuity, I'm sick of the cycle involved with starting over. The other reason is he has made a couple of shrewd trades and I like the Mojo signing...those point to his ability to acquire talent when he will have an abundance of moves to make. - IonSabres
Conversely, you don't keep the wrong guy just for continuity's sake. I dont think there's reason to believe he'll do a better job building a middle 6 if given another crack at the nut. And that's what we need |

He needs to be better defensively but the kid is a (frank)ing stud. The dude is gonna be a star. What's wrong with thinking that he has a great future. I don't. - mhp
This garbage is exactly what infects the Buffalo Sabres. "We're always going to be great in the future."
A bar i used to frequent had a sign "Free beer tomorrow."
Today is never tomorrow and the Sabres are always great in the future, but never the present.
It's amazing how many rubes there are to suck up the slop whichever Sabre GM serves it to them.

Id say a decent benchmark would be 2 seasons or 100 games in the AHL (as a min.)
he wouldnt fit that bill with 1 season 66 games - hubie
He played 3 seasons in Swedish men's league before coming over. |

What ridiculous about it? That's barely over a point a game. Nothing epic by any stretch. You want to tell me he'll have a LaFontaine season and we miss the playoffs then I'd see something shocking. Anyone who thought the Sabres were making the playoffs with a soccer coach.... well that line of thought speaks for itself. |

Here’s where we’re at boys....
1. Our drafting has traditionally been piss-poor. Unless it a first over all pick, we suck at picking.
2. Consequently, we have too many players playing above their line. In an average team, most of these plugs wouldn’t be here but in AHL or even ECHL or beer league.
3. Glaring deficiencies, such as mental and non-wussy toughness and good hands in front of net are continuing now for 2 decades.
4. Panic moves. Example: miller gets trucked, no ones has testes (not even his supposed best friend goose stood up for him) we got get John Scott. No Centre? Easy, we will sign Ville Leino or trade for Ott.
Briers the God and drury leave? Quick, sign Grimace the gambling fiend!!!! The grimace is for when he missed a shot and made that stupid face all the time.
5. Party atmosphere: ruff is pissed off after an embarsaing loss? Derek Roy wants to TOGAAAAA! F the coach we need to get lit and piss our pants and grab each other’s ding dongs.
6. Reacting not being innovative. If Pitts or LA wins the cup, we should copy them!
7. Hiring buffalo guys rather than true winners and/or competent people. Oh, JB had a cup of coffee in buffalo? Make him the GM to clean up the alcoholic’s mistakes!
8. Signing plugs to fill holes to too long contracts. Unable to get rid of them. |

In fairness he was a hockey coach coaching soccer not the other way around?
So my theory is hes a manager of men and not the coach.... so is the coaching staff hes assembled good enough? |

Sure looks like he was run out of the NHL for a reason doesn't it?
Anyone got a line on whether Man U needs their coach next year? Maybe a midfeilder for Eichel? |

When Skinner and Oloffson are healthy we are a decent team. They were getting rolling again after the November slide. We waited too long on Asplund and Lazar. They should have been playing over others all year.
The Frolik trade makes no sense to me. Why not just keep the 4th? |

Youre missing the whole point of the post, but i get it thats its tough to back read.
The whole post was about our development over the past 20 years
asking who was the last developed forward
I used 2 years or 100 games as a benchmark |
