Agreed. I honestly thought after the Joker and Miller trades it gave him the green light to move Risto. Too many RD and Risto wanted out seemed to me that they were gonna move on from him and we'd get a nice forward in return. Puzzling.

Except Krueger liked Risto coming in and wanted a chance to work with him. Look at some of the returns on dmen traded last summer.

PK Subban for Steven Santini, Jeremy Davies and two 2nds
Trouba for Pionk and a 1st
Olli Maatta for Dominick Kahun and a 5th
Justin Faulk and a 5th for Joel Edmundson, Dominik Bokk and a 7th

Any of these deals blow you away? Where's that nice forward that was traded for a dman? There wasn't a Hall for Larsson deal to be made.

I mean he’s putting all of his trust essentially in his scouting staff. The forward corps doesn’t look so bleak if Mittelstadt, Cozens, Thompson pan out as well as another top 10 or so pick we are looking at again this year.

He should though at least bank on some stop gaps and make a relevant hockey trade to bring in an NHL proven player to play 2C. Skinner has proven he can score with someone who is at best an average Center so get him one while the kids develop.

Looking back at our trade history, I see Rob Ray was traded to Ottawa for future considerations and Jason Woolley was traded to Detroit for future considerations as well. I think it's time to cash in on those deals and get Pageau from the Sens and AA from Detroit.

If I were a betting man I would bet he is here next year.

I think what the Coyotes did with Hayton this year was smart and better for him then going back to the OHL and he was a 5th overall pick. Hayton is not playing in every game and is in and out of the lineup. They let him go back to the WJC and dominate.

I think Cozens has gained all he can gain from playing against WHL competition but I also know he’s got a build like Tage Thompson did last year so it’s up to him to put on the weight and impress in camp next year. It’s all up to him at this point.

I think the gm and coach respect Hutton and what “leadership” he brings. So maybe they don’t want to offend him. Who knows
