This GM has brought in one forward via trade that he made a long term commitment too (Skinner)

He has brought in two defenceman that in all likelihood should be here long term (Montour and Joker) and another in Miller that was a move to provide depth (done before he swung the Joker deal).

The rest was patchwork to make up for the lack of assets and prospect pipeline he was given to work with.

Botts’ demise will be due to Mittelstadt not panning out and the fact he didn’t make the one trade he needed to make to acquire a 2C to fill the hole ROR left. Not because a bunch of forwards on expiring contracts are underachieving.
