That's why unless it's a salary in for salary out type trade I don't understand why he wouldn't retain any salary to just get him off the roster at this point.

Granted if he has been working on a bigger deal (we know he works very slowly) he might need all the cap space they have to make it work

Even with an extension in place I don’t make that move. For a 23 year old Toffoli I would, not the 27 year old who has been know his whole career as someone who lacked foot speed. Do you think he’s going to get faster ?

He's 4 years removed from his 30 goal season and should finish around 20-25 this season

Last season was really rough for him

He's an upgrade for sure but I wouldn't want to pay a big price to get him and then hand out another big contract to him (he will be 28 soon)
