You'll learn as you get older, or you'll be a bumhole for life. You'll figure it out, maybe.

Bottom line: you allow 19 points you should win the game in regulation. Get a legit WR, O-Line AGAIN, another CB and they're golden.

And yes Pegulllllaville. I will take this season with a playoff game over Denver's every time. Denver gets a high pick, good for them.

where was beasley or knox for most of the game?

I love getting duke involved, but you have to have that slot wr in play, instead of 50 yard bombs to full back

The ESPN NFL Live crew is absolutely roasting the officials for not calling the 2nd half kickoff a TD for the Bills due to not following the rule as written.
- kingcong39

f@cking head official called it a TD

It would've helped if the O line blocked anyone for most of the 2nd half, and the OC called more running plays for Singletary.

Plenty of reasons they lost.

They called the letter of the (frank)ing law for the tuck rule, but this time they fall back on common sense? Come on.

Where was the call on that 1 run by Allen when 41 blasted him, that was helmet to chin, and Watts sack, didn't think you were allowed to to put your full body weight on the QB as he's going down

That's another thing, why is Allen throwing 46 times, Singletary should have been running the ball. He was a bull out there.

I really like Allen. He is an easy guy to like and root for. He has a heart the size of an elephant. His athleticism and mobility are outstanding. He has a clutch gene for sure. And he cares so much and tries so hard it is impossible not to see.

However he has flaws. And those flaws are typically what QBs need to succeed in this league. His passing accuracy and touch are poor and his decision making is not good. We can compensate for this by play calling and game planning. We can get better weapons on offense to help him succeed. Worse QBs have won the Super Bowl. But when the chips are down and he is asked to throw forty plus times to win a game, his flaws will be exposed.

I am not saying we shouldn’t give him more time to improve and try to get him better weapons. I am not willing to give up on him so early. But I do feel that with a better passing quarterback it would be easier for us to win games.

We should have won that game yesterday. It was there for us at the end if we could have just made a few of the easy completions that were available. Sure the play calling was suspect, the referees screwed us, we were unlucky with bad timing on penalties and the defense failed to make the stops it should have. But with a quarterback that could make some of those easy completions we win that game.

Allen just doesn’t have the touch and accuracy on his passes needed to be a good QB. We can win games because of his mobility and heart and will to win. But the games where we need him to throw forty or more times will always be a problem. Eventually his flaws will show up. He could have easily had three interceptions that they missed yesterday.

I think he deserves more time. I think he will improve. Like I said, worse QBs have won Super Bowls. But at the end of the day, I think the writing is on the wall that he is not and never will be a great passer and is prone to make bad decisions. With his heart and determination and athleticism he can compensate for his flaws and still win games. But the games where we need a great passer, he does not have the accuracy and touch to win.

Still, I love the guy and will always be rooting for him. And I hope he can improve his accuracy and touch and prove me wrong. I will never ridicule fans that love him and defend him, I can see why. I do too. But the fans who are critical of his ability as a passing QB are justified in their view. If Allen were a better passer we win yesterday despite everything else.

A couple of things...
- you are right, it is exactly how I feel.
- the above said, you are dangerously close to being called a hater, just because your rose colored glasses aren't rosey enough
- Allen put 2 balls that likely result in 8 additional points in regulation ; 1 to Williams... should have been caught, 1 to Brown on the sideline...a 1st grader knows how to get his feet down for that catch inbounds.

His play will forever be like being on a roller-coaster with the body restraint pretty lose...not sure they'll survive until the ride is over.

I must say I was pretty numb to the events in the 2nd half and OT.
No depression nor anger, rather just a "it figures" / Bill's going to Bill's feeling.

Next season, been saying that since the early '70's, they should be much better with the amount of Cap they have available to reinvest in roster upgrades.
- find a RT and LG, moving Ford to RG upgrades 3 positions with addition of only 2 players
- invest in another DT to stop the run
- CB to play opposite White
- WR for reliable deep threat, along with using Williams more as the 4th

Off season player development imperatives...
- Allen's deep ball accuracy
- Allen's deep ball accuracy
- DB's tackling ability - holy poop, you don't tackle a runner with steam by wrapping your arms on his shoulder pads and hopping on his back..pathetic actually
- Knox's pass catching consistency
- Allen's deep ball accuracy

I don't believe his play will forever be like a roller coaster.

When he doesn't feel like he has to do it all himself, like he felt yesterday during the second half when the O line could not block anyone, he will show even more improvement. That's why I would shore up the O line even more, as there's been far too many times the past few weeks where it's been a jail break as soon as the ball has been snapped.

And, of course, they also need a big time receiver and defensive line fortifications.

I had to listen on the radio due to driving to and from an event last night, until I got home and could watch it on DVR, but on the radio broadcast, Rod Woodson was crushing the Bills for the routes the receivers were running as he asked multiple times why routes weren't being run in the middle of the field.

From the Panthers blog:

"Trade Hoffman now for a decent defenseman and find someone to take Vinny as well."

Any chance the Panthers GM feels similarly?

If so, get on the phone Jason!!

My other post addresses the O-line, so sure it impacts Josh.
That said, there are probably 20+ other QB's that face the same.
He'll get better, but I still believe the in game experience will continue to be up and down more than many.

He only plays that way from time to time because he feels he needs to, and I fully believe that will change.

Going to be hard for me to get optimistic about the offense improving next year if all we do is draft a wide receiver.

Daboll needs to go for me. The team can't score points. 19 today was the most they scored in a loss this year. 20 is almost insurmountable.

Allen obviously is here for the long haul, so bringing the whole gang back and hoping a rookie receiver is the answer just won't cut it.
