Sorry about the delay

I did PM a few people to see if they could look into this but I guess people don't check their PMs

I would love some additional info if anyone can look into this but here goes:

Long story short, a mutual friend told me that Carter Hutton's wife gets her hair cut at the salon she works at and that she is pretty liberal about talking about him I guess...

Take this for what you will but his wife claims he has been injured multiple times this season (none that I can remember the team disclosing) and that since the start of December, he has been dealing with a moderate/severe back injury. Possibly since before the Flyers game, but definitely since. She is apparently very upset with how the team is handling his injury/playing time.

Very bizarre if you ask me.

- BeadyEyedDouche

I'll add that this would explain a lot when it comes to how they have been riding Ullmark, his wife claims the injury was at the very beginning of December, and the Flyers game was the 19th*...

Before people shoot the messenger, believe what you want. She would have no reason to make this up, just thought I'd pass the information along because it seemed very strange to me.

I don't think it would be too far-fetched. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

If the guy is hurt, they wouldn't be playing him at all, unless he's telling them he's OK.

This makes no sense.

It does explain a lot though. Carter Hutton’s wife does have hair. Carter Hutton does have a back. I believe it!

Well, they haven't been playing him at all, aside from the Flyers game. And he played like a statue.

Like I said, just passing along something I heard.

Thanks Beady! It could explain why he’s looked off. Aren’t there nhl rules to disclose injuries?

It’s interesting that she’d be upset with how the team is handling it?

If he’s hurt, call him injured, bring up Hammond and get 6k in Rochester. Or let Johansson have a cup of coffee with the big club... if he says he’s ok and it’s a day to day type deal, isn’t it on the player to be his best advocate and say i need to shut it down for a couple weeks?!?

Not denying the info, just having discussions. Something has clearly been up with him...

Heard Nashville was looking to make a move. Perhaps we could get Bonino for 2C. Pretty sure Botts was in Pittsburgh when the Pens traded for him. 1 more year at $4.1m. 13g 9a 22 points (21 even strength) in 40 games and is 54.7% on faceoffs this season. He's behind Johansen and Duchenne, so perhaps he is available.

I don't question whether he's hurt or not, I just question what the wife thinks. She doesn't like the way they're handling the injury? I can't imagine the organization is hiding something or forcing him to practice, ride the bench, etc if he's legitimately hurt. Wouldn't they just call up one of the AHL goalies until he's better?

And, yes, agreed. Something is definitely up with him.

Why wouldn't they just allow him to heal and use either Hammond or Johansson?

All of the same things crossed my mind, but an athlete's wife complaining at her hair salon isn't the most far-fetched thing I've ever heard... If it's something they're working with him on getting through and taking it day-by-day it's still all very odd that they wouldn't disclose it.

Ok, but why is she complaining?

That's the part I don't get.

[insert sexist joke here]

But seriously, who knows... All she said was she overheard her "complaining" about her husband who plays hockey and it was something about a back injury and after she left, obviously people elaborated on her being Hutton's wife, etc...

She'd either be unhappy that they aren't putting him on LTIR, that they haven't disclosed the injury, that the injury is being mis-diagnosed/mis-handled, that they made him play injured in the Flyers game... who knows. But she was definitely saying he has a back issue and it's why he hasn't seen playing time, at the very least. So if she's just expressing her own frustrations with how he feels, I can't say.

Either he feels like he can play and he's upset with his playing time, or the team is asking him to ride the bench and keep the injury on the down-low because of cap issues...

If he had a bad back / serve back injury ..... I doubt he would be practicing still.

I’m not hating on the info. Just what I think

Red Wings blow a two goal lead to lose to the Blackhawks. They might be too far ahead for the Sabres to catch.

Hey man, it's all good, I have no reason to take it personal because I heard it second hand. Like I said, she'd have no reason to make it up but said the goalie for the Sabres' wife was in there talking about him and it was something about him having back issue at least on and off this season.

Guys play injured all the time without having their injuries disclosed. How many times after the playoffs do we hear about guys playing with broken bones that were never put on the injury report? Especially if he's well enough to play, maybe not well, just well enough, I could see them, female dogging about it. He thinks he should be shut down for a while, the docs say he's ok.

Perhaps she's just upset about fans bìtching about Hutton's play and wants people to know he's hurt.

Sounds like a bs excuse. If he’s hurt he’d go on IR and we could call up JJ for a few games to back up Ullmark or have a few spot starts.

Nursing some kind of injury makes a lot of sense, imo.

If he had an injury that he was being forced to involuntarily play through the NHLPA would be involved and it would be in the news.

The Sabres want a viable backup goalie and placing Hutton on LTIR would give them cap space they desperately want. It would make no sense for the Sabres to force an injured player who’s playing poorly to continue to play.

With the way he has been playing, I would guess that the Sabres would want nothing more than the ability to put him on LTIR.

But our GM may have brain damage so who knows?

Not saying he isn’t nursing some back problem. But I am saying he is practicing and dressing as a backup voluntarily.

While everyone is some doubting interesting info.

Here's a fun post:

I heard that not only did eichel not particularly like ror, but none of the Sabres did. Spent a lot of time by himself at meals and such. Not quite the team first guy

*I realize they went out to dinner and Josh allen paid

If Duuuuuuuke hauls that pass in to make it 17-0 before the half, it's game over. Allen clearly isnt the problem. Once they get a WR1, they will be the class of the division
- jcragcrumple

I like our pass catchers just fine

-Duke will have a role next year, and could be the “big” WR we need in the red zone
-Use Knox more, he’s a beast & will overcome the drops. Future pro bowler. Can also be a red zone threat
-Also use Singletary more in the pass game,
esp with screens. He’s a big play waiting to happen. Just gotta give him more chances
-Like Foster a lot last year, and hardly played this year bc of injuries

They went out & got Bonino so they’d have a strong 3C though
So unless they have a replacement,
not sure why they’d wanna move him?

She might also just be making excuses for his poor play

I only suggest that, bc it does seem odd that the Sabres wouldn’t just call someone up
Especially with Johansson playing well
