I really hope he pans out as a center
- jcragcrumple

It would have been nice for Cozens to possibly start of in Rochester and dominate there for 20-30 games and come up to Buffalo and take off but with the whole CHL agreement that won’t happen.

He will crack the big club next year but if they were smart they would shelter him as a 3C or play him in the top 6 on the wing.

I don’t think it would be a bad idea to let him play at the WJC again next year unless he’s doing very well at the NHL level.

they need to take him off the leash

Seems like the last few home games, dahlin has attempted quite a few 1 on 4 rushes. Looks good for a bit until, it goes no where.

He has looked like himself again once he came back from the concussion. I think taking the break and watching a few games from up top helped him.

Yeah...

1) Pk cost 1.4mil more, as u said

2) 3 years (at the time) left of PK is way worse than 1.5yrs left of Byfuglien

3) essentially getting Byfuglien for free

4) Big Buff adds toughness & can play wing

So yeah...
there’s 4 solid reasons that Byfuglien would make more sense than PK

But sure...
u could also convince me that Byfuglien at 7.6mil is a bad idea & we should look to spend that Cap hit elsewhere

In no way whatsoever does it mean a PK Subban trade would’ve been a good idea

- jdfitz77

I can find a better use of that money then spending it on a fat man who doesn't want to play for the jets

I heard they were holding him back, more worried about him focusing on his D

We are in pretty dire shape at 2C though
Is Sam really that slow that it isn’t even worth trying?

Just seems odd that he hasn’t gotten another shot

Would be cool if u could find anything out for us!

- jdfitz77

My conspiracy theory:

Maybe they give Sam the last 20 games at center.
Sabres get a good look at him, whether he can truly play center or not. Year 5 gotta take a look, now or never?

Maybe they base the next contract $ on his position?
Especially if it goes to arbitration.

Pay Sam right wing $ then use him at 2C

The other non conspiracy:
He is just too slow and not good enough to play center.
He shows no signs of being defensively conscious.
He needs eichel to put up points.

The 1 game sam played center, he looked good and made a really nice pass for a goal.

I think his best attribute is carrying the puck. Head up, ready to pass.
When he's on eichels line, sam's trying to funnel it thru jack and it takes away from his skill set. (more outside of the blue line). Of course he passes it to jack on the pp, which can stay in tact.

That's interesting, about time.👍

I noticed both vs. Edmonton and florida it looked like he was told to jump up and make something happen. Maybe he took it upon himself, and they liked what they saw.

the only issue I have with trying skunk at center

he really is the only guy who gets in front of the net

he's no vanek, don't get me wrong but no other sabres really stays low causing chaos for the other goalie

maybe tage will be that guy someday soon

also, like vanek, I think reinhart is better used in a place other then the front of the net

vanek with his shot should have spent his entire career as a sabre in the slot shooting

maybe skunk should be in the slot setting up the tap in goals

I heard after the tampa collapse, it was hinted that he could be more creative, which fits your thought

You’d think Vesey could carve out a nice niche playing tough in front of the net... 6’3”-202 - dude has the size to create some havoc...

True. The light bulb finally went on. Send Vesey net front on line “the eichel” line and let Sam and Jack create....

Like i said, that’s fair enough

PK still would’ve been a horrible idea
I said that this summer, & hold to it

I agree.

I have liked Vesey's game all season. He has been very solid defensively, very good on the PK and has had seriously about 10 breakaway/partial breakaways this season.

His problem is he has finesse but no finish.

Needs to get to the dirty areas and score some scummy goals, imo.

Mitts with goals in three straight games, this one of the power play variety though so it does not matter.

I think its easier to find a net front presence than a 2c.
Seems like the easiest way to score.
Risto looks solid when they pull the goalie and stuff him in front if the opposing goalie.

Of Sam's 14 goals, how many are really tips from in front? The one timer was nice on Saturday on the pp.

I have wanted Brian Boyle on this team for like 5 years now.

That's the type of player we are lacking.

You think the coaches ever mention to jimmy v to go to the front of the net?

Its just not his style.
