Does anything about the Buffalo Sabres lead u to believe the "men" on that team are being lead well?
- lacaprup

If you catch a game or 2. You might notice john jack eichel. Seem like he is having a break thru season.

You Need to watch the games.

When Skinner and Oloffson are healthy we are a decent team. They were getting rolling again after the November slide. We waited too long on Asplund and Lazar. They should have been playing over others all year.
The Frolik trade makes no sense to me. Why not just keep the 4th?

- lulags

Skinner and Oloffson may be on the 3rd and 4th line when they return, with Wilson and EROD on the 1st and 2nd line.

I was at the game last night. Frolik looks kind of invisible despite Joho playing great on his line. Asplund and Sam aren’t working with Eichel. He seems to be getting frustrated with blown plays, at least that’s what I was seeing. Our defense is good in transition and through the neutral zone but is an abomination in our own end. I’ve never
seen such bad blown coverage. 3 of the lies goals were simple blown coverage.
Larsson looked pretty good. Girgs looks done, like he’s stopped trying. Rest we’re not very noticeable

- lulags

Sabres still cant pass worth a poop. Break out passes =in the skates, behind or way in front of the breaking player, rarely do you see a tape to tape pass. it is so frustrating to watch.

Youre missing the whole point of the post, but i get it thats its tough to back read.

The whole post was about our development over the past 20 years
asking who was the last developed forward

I used 2 years or 100 games as a benchmark

- hubie

Yeah, didn't backread too far.

This has been a problem for a long time and there is absolutely no excuses that can be made for this. These are supposedly professional players. Passing is a frigging basic and should have been perfected by the time they were 15 years old. There should be no need to practice such a basic part of the game.

I could not agree more. Kruger is doing a great job teaching the basics. I would say we are worse then last year in the passing department.

I’m pretty sure the fast start combined with the playoff drought drastically raised our expectations for this year. It’s also frustrating to know Eichels expiration clock is ticking.
This season was projected to be a mediocre season with a boatload of dead weight contracts expiring at the end of this year. We will have the first shot at building a proper team this summer. I’m excited for that. Krueger and Botts need to be communicating this with Eichel so there is hope.

I think your definition is too restrictive. You are saying these guys have to be on the Amerks.
Isn't allowing them to play professionally overseas allowing for their development as well?
Why restrict it to Amerks play of 100 games. Decisions by the management team to allow them to develop at their own pace wherever is what's key...IMO.

Very frustrating and we’ve been the worst in the league at moving the puck for too long. You can see it in Eichels body language when watching live. It was very evident last night on every blown pass/play. It’s why he holds the puck so long imo

Couldn’t agree more. They should work on passing in practice as 90% of the focus. It’s embarrassing at this level. It’s equal to not being able to skate at the NHL level

So, according to you, Eichel is having a breakout season because of Krugar and not because he's now 24 and has reached the beginning of his physical prime? You're a perfect Sabre fan. I bet you think the playoffs are right around the corner too.

Former Panthers defensive coordinator Eric Washington will coach the Bills' defensive line next season. Some familiarity here — Sean McDermott and Washington previously worked together in Carolina

He was mentioned as a strong candidate earlier in the week.

Curious as to why Teerlinck left the pros for college.

He clearly is in oh-poop reaction mode.
I blasted this trade then and said they should have kept the 4th...at least it could be used for the future.
But hey, he should be able to spin Frolik into a 7th at the TDL so all is not lost.

Honestly, he needs to stop worrying about this year. He sat on his hands about 6 months too long, and now it is too late.
Any move going forward should fit the following criteria, if not don't do it
- trade all UFAs for futures
- fills a middle 6 hole with a young, fast player

Trading a future puck for a 32 yo 4th liner was just freaking stupid. Purely reactionary.

Stop working on a trade of Erod, concern yourself with maximizing the UFAs.
ERod Agent can find a home for him...I mean what is a $2M 14th F with 2 pts going to garner...a 7th in 2032 after retaining 50%.
