He was mentioned as a strong candidate earlier in the week.

Curious as to why Teerlinck left the pros for college.

Sounds like he had a close connection with the coach down there.

Youre missing the whole point of the post, but i get it thats its tough to back read.

The whole post was about our development over the past 20 years
asking who was the last developed forward

I used 2 years or 100 games as a benchmark

- hubie

What does the development of a player 20 years ago or even 5 or 10 years ago have to do with anything? Botts has drafted 18 guys since becoming GM. Two have played in the NHL. Dahlin was never going to go to the AHL and Mitts really should have stayed in college, but is now getting a chance to develop in Rochester.
Allowing a player develop overseas doesn't mean that the team is not allowing them to develop before calling them up, and with the way contracts work you will likely see more players from the SHL and Liiga being drafted. It allows them a few more years to 'develop' before having to sign a contract.
People constantly bringing up 10 or 20 years of failure have their mind set that no matter who is in charge that person will continue to do what the previous guys did.
Bringing up our poor draft history has no bearing on whether or not JBotts knows what he's doing. How many of his picks have been busts so far?
Go look at the preseason predictions and nearly every expert had us finishing 6th in the division and a few had us at 27th overall. I understand that fans expect better, but realistically the plan has been to begin to really compete next season.

"The Sabres have a new coach in Ralph Krueger, and they desperately needed more roster depth heading into free agency. They sure got it, adding Marcus Johansson, Jimmy Vesey, Colin Miller and Henri Jokiharju. Adding Mike Bales (formerly of the Canes) as goaltending coach is a sneaky big hire."

"One of these seasons Jack Eichel, Rasmus Dahlin and the rest of the considerable talent on this team will come together. I’m guessing this isn’t going to be the year."

"Buffalo is a wild card. Last season there were signs that the Sabres could have a bright future. There were also signs that they were awful."

"Jack Eichel looks like Bill S. Preston, Esq. and for that sole reason I like the Sabres.
I think Buffalo could make a significant jump in terms of standings points this season, but a ten-point improvement from 2018-19 would put them at 86, a total that landed the Panthers fifth place in the Atlantic.
Only three of Buffalo’s forwards topped 35 points last year, and that’s just not nearly enough firepower to compete in that division.
Oh, and their goalies aren’t especially good, either."

I guess the fandom here for many had unrealistic expectations for this season and as result is leading to a lot of ridiculous takes, especially after a bad game. No matter how easy you may think it is, being a real GM in real life is a little harder than what you armchair GMs and Fantasy League champions seem to realize.

Former Panthers defensive coordinator Eric Washington will coach the Bills' defensive line next season. Some familiarity here — Sean McDermott and Washington previously worked together in Carolina

Bolts are now 7 pts behind Bruins with 2 games in hand., having won 9 straight.
This bodes well for them eclipsing Boston for 1st in the Atlantic, setting up another Bruins- TML round playoff series.

He called plays like he didn't always completely trust his personnel group.

Hopefully, that changes in year 3. He should know what he has at this point.

The reliance on Gore and abandoning the running game in OT against Houston was bad

But again Josh improved from year 1 to year 2

I don't want to mess with a young QB

This is what I mean. Singletary fumbled twice in the 2nd half in Pittsburgh, though he only lost one. There is no doubt in my mind that it spooked him, even though it shouldn't have.

So, according to you, Eichel is having a breakout season because of Krugar and not because he's now 24 and has reached the beginning of his physical prime? You're a perfect Sabre fan. I bet you think the playoffs are right around the corner too.

You're the perfect buffalo fan in general:

Nothing is going well: we suck

How about a bright spot like eichel breaking thru?

No its not anything but eichel being 24.

He is able to script the 1st 15 plays well.
After that it seems his play selection becomes really random.
Third quarter has largely been rather putrid, only to pick if up with 10 minutes left in the 4th.
To me, it has been very strange

The question is whether that's acceptable.

Just because most people knew over the summer that the team most likely would suck because he didnt address the 2nd line doesn't mean it's acceptable.

I'd like these two questions answered:

Based on the past 3 years, why does he deserve a 4th?

And

Do you believe he'll do a better job filling forward holes than he has in the past? If so, why?

I'll take your answer at 1st and 1st. I'm wearing a chiquita banana hat

He clearly is in oh-poop reaction mode.
I blasted this trade then and said they should have kept the 4th...at least it could be used for the future.
But hey, he should be able to spin Frolik into a 7th at the TDL so all is not lost.

Trading a future puck for a 32 yo 4th liner was just freaking stupid. Purely reactionary.

- IonSabres

Is it really an oh-poop reaction mode after they just placed winger #4 on IR? Or is trading for a PK specialist when your PK is ranked 28th in the league a stupid move.
You have people all over the comment section here saying we can't draft or develop players, but you're upset we traded a 4th? People's overreactions over something as small as this is just ridiculous.

70's were quite a bit of fun with this team.
That was a team built to win that unfortunately failed in the end, no doubt.
Along the way though, great times.

People female dog all the time about how we dont draft and develop forwards from the middle rounds. Trading picks for the Froliks of the world is part of that problem.

For the record, I'm fine with trading picks for players, but bundle the picks and get ONE GOOD PLAYER, not 5 poopty ones
