given the blowout
dahlin, joker and pilut should have probably received more ice time in the 3rd period

we beat the worst time, congrats

now back to the plan to fall for 30th place

Failure is a successful option, and i'm tired of it.

Skinner was expected to only miss 10-15 games because of the break. Tage I honestly do not care one bit about, he will never be an impact player in the NHL. Too stoopid in the head for the NHL, too athletic for the AHL. He is Mark Mancari all over again.
- BeadyEyedDouche

Really?? Tage has been great in Rochester and played 1 period in the nhl this year on the 4th line. You make that assumption??

Only because we had the lead. If a normal game, the minutes are not equal.
Risto on the PP is not a good option. I get coaches are desperate to find something, but that is not an answer. Just topical cream.

To be fair, having a physical presence in front of the net is a good thing.

More than an assumption with over 100 NHL games played, for 2 organizations over 2 years...producing at about 0.20 PPG in that time, pretty consistently throughout his time in the big league.

He isn't good, very much like Mitts...needs more time in the AHL to continue to develop his game. It really is the best thing for him.

It's in everyone's best interest to root for him. He's apparently developed his game well since he was here last. Would really like him to make the most of the opportunity.

Ideally, conventional thought would be to have a F down low on the PP.
The reality is, Risto has fared very well there as a tough, physical presence that draws a defender down low with him ... opens the ice up a bit....AND he has scored several down low.
He's effective there, who cares what position he plays.

I would really like the team as a whole to be good and make the most of opportunities.

I'm going to the game on Thursday.

My expectations are low, and I'm flying to colorado shortly after the game.

No.

There is too much wrong, and we beat a garbage team with a garbage team.

The sky is falling, and I'm chicken little.

Not seeing much complaining really, more the fact of who scored all the goals...it is pretty funny they all did in the same game.

Beating a team that is on pace to obliterate the Sabres record during the Tank years when the Ownership, Management and fans was openly trying to lose and embracing it...well, I don't think anyone should be doing headstand either. A meh reaction.

Look, we don't all need to be whipping our d1cks out and pounding it over a win over the red wings, but does every (frank)ing comment need to b1tch and moan about how Detroit is more terrible-r than Buffalo so "who gives a (frank) about beating them, I'm going to (frank)ing cry about it so (frank) you"..?

Just give it a rest. The team played well for 40 minutes, they beat a team they needed to beat, let's move on to the next one.

yes.

because tanking is useless, the team will try to win every single game, the GM, as incompetent as he looks, is going to try to win every single game.

Because rooting for them to lose is (frank)ing lame and I'm way too god damn over it.

Personally, I haven't said anything about their last wo games, and only mentioned I watched the Blues game for about 5 -10 minutes as it was boring as hell (2nd period; 2 shots on goal).

I have been very, very vocal about Botts f'g up the roster for 2 seasons.
I realize the roster is putrid and normally haven't railed on the players specifically. Case in point, Botts acquisition of Frolik, not nailing Frolik himself.

And then compare rosters.

High draft position is the only smart play at this point. The players will hate, most fans will hate it. The GM and coach are trying to save their jobs so they won’t be for it. But for a fan that wants a team that can compete for a cup in the future, it’s the only good choice.

I have been rooting for losses since New Years. I hate the position we are in too. But I am realistic in what we have and what we have coming, and it’s not enough.

That's a totally different discussion, one that dominates this board daily.

This is the first year I've really wilted on Botts.

He can use his cap space excuse all he wants, which is a valid variable, but he didn't need to be in this position, and a deal can always be made, depending on your ability to negotiate and how much you're willing to give up.

He has hindrances, he has bad players that make too much money, and he has roster gaps that he has absolutely failed to address.

Buffalo's drafting over the past 20 years has also been pathetic. The last impact depth draft pick player was a guy named Afinogenov, before Olofsson. The Sabres sad drafting history is not on Botts.. yet.

BTW Ion-- Not directing my last post at you. It's to the board.

So, what, shed all your unwanted free agents and bring up comparable players from the AHL or trade from worse roster players and a shabby pick? You lose, what, a few more points in the standings than you would have without shedding those depth players.

So, you go from 12th to 8th OA. Big (frank)ing deal.

Guys you're not trading for pix-

Olofsson-Eichel-Reinhart
Skinner-Johansson-x
x-x-x
x-Asplund-Okposo
x

Pilut-Risto
Dahlin-Montour
Jokiharju-x
x-x

Ullmark
x

So you're telling me you're not going to trade the top 6 and the top 5 and the top goalie.

I promise you, this team won't get much better or worse when you shed a portion of the bottom half of the roster.
