This is the worst excuse I see for Botts defenders. This is totally on Botts. There is zero concrete evidence he was forced to trade him. Some assumption that once he would be traded he had to do it right away to not pay bonus, again just an assumption.

Why do we give Botts a pass because of Pegula , give him another pass for inheriting Murray’s prospects when Murray’s was also meddled with. Botts accepted the poop return for Oreilly. He could of got a usable piece ready now.

I just don’t get it.

There is also no concrete evidence he could have gotten a usable piece that was ready now.

That trade made them worse.
His job is to improve them.
It's what he's paid for.

So you want concrete proof, rail against assumptions, and then end by making wild assumptions of your own.

Like it or not, he shopped RoR hard and interest was very limited.

He got taken. It’s not a wild assumption to think he could of got one usable piece for a 60 pt #2 Center who won a Stanley cup and conn Smythe 10 months later.

If he couldn’t get that player you don’t trade him. Period.

he did get taken but lets remember ROR's trade value was at an all time low because of things he had been saying and how things were going in buffalo and it was made public that he had to be traded. Teams were not lining up to give away the farm to a player that now had given up on two separate teams and basically demanded a trade

In your words, there is no concrete evidence supporting your assumptions.
