Cozens can fill a RW spot though.

Casey should be the first option in a trade.

- thatsapickle

honest question
did you choose Casey cause you have seen what he actually do in the league and now turn your hope to Cozens?

I am not sure either Casey or Cozens gets to Ryan Johansen in a trade, but if one of them did, I imagine it would be Cozens. The Fat One's trade value is an unknown at this point.

I believe Botts is well known as the numbers guy so I trust him.
We would have control of those guys.
Would have plenty of time for the like of
MIller,Montour,Mcabbe
Sheary, Mojo

all guys who wont make the roster when that money is needed

- hubie

Maybe. But again, hypothetical:
Eichel 10M
RyJo 8M
Skinner 9M
Sam 8M ?
Dahlin 10M ?
Oloffson 7M ?

That's 52 M locked into 6 players, leaving 28M for the other 17 roster guys. Top 6 looks great. Maybe my projected numbers are a bit high.

So Jack is Moses not Jesus????
- gordong

Technically, Moses was a type and shadow of Christ, as in Christ is the better prophet.

So no, in NHL parlance, Jack doesn't point to Connor McDavid.

No one is saying he shouldn't. The question was asked would you trade Cozens for Ryan Johansen. IMHO, yes.

I understood, but my contribution was to state I'd rather lose Casey now than Cozens now.

I doubt Casey brings back someone of Johansen's caliber.

It's not necessarily apples to apples though. Cozens is dominating consistently at his level since being drafted and had a great World Juniors, I think Cozens is more ready now then Casey was at the same time back when he got called up.

All that being said, yes, if you could flip Cozens for a KNOWN talent RIGHT now (of really high value) yes you do it. Because you don't know if Cozens will in fact develop.

6 points in his last 8. I can only imagine he'll become much more comfortable, playing a two way game.

Need to factor the cap will go up.
VO seems high, he would have to continue this pace
But there are plenty of teams who have multiple high priced players and make it work

I think anyone would agree. Cozens has more team control, hasn't lost the shine yet, is doing what he's supposed to.
And you are right, Casey won't bring back Johansen. So the question is would you trade Cozens to bring in Johansen.

Casey didnt dominate his level of competition prior to going pro?
having the crystal ball now vs 2 years ago is skewing your judgement

I'm not ready to sell Casey at an all time low, I think there's still hope that he becomes a useful top 6F at some point. Shown flashes for sure.

Yeah I went to a couple of Gopher games. Casey was by far the best player on the ice night in and night out and it wasn't close. That Gopher team was bad (didn't even make the playoffs I believe) and he still was dominating.

True. I put in the bump to 80M (it's at 73 now if I remember correctly. Just seems a little farfetched to have that many high priced players. Having a couple 5/6M guys that produce like 7/8/9M guys help those teams out for sure.

Pure opinion here, I see this on football too.

I think we need to stop counting on young player or prospect will naturally progress year over year....

This just seems like a byproduct of all us playing Madden or EA NHL. I mean, top prospects ALWAYS develop in those games, why not in real life? I think it leads to an over value of prospects. I fall into this as well.

That and some of our trade proposals.

Well put, in every sport fans think the young guy will outperform the veteran in place every time and yet it it rarely happens.

I was under the impression that his point production was not significantly higher than his peers to the same level that Dylan Cozens is.

This isn't looking into a crystal ball, rather just going off of what I heard. I never heard that Casey was dominating in the same way that I see everyone talking about Cozens.

Could take our guys into the Leafs Cap situation, if they can make the money work why not us

I feel that Botts can fill in the roster around those guys

Lazar has 7 points in 17 games. Think the Sabres found something here. 33 point pace. If the Sabres are looking for cheap 30 point forwards for their bottom 6, he's well on his way to a new contract.
- TheSabresTaco

Botterill got lucky right?
Adding a quality depth winger with grit for cheap
Former 1st rounder still in his prime
