Botts needs Cap Space and secondary scoring.

He trades Scandella for what most believed was his value, a 3rd or 4th ... from a bottom 5 team ...so a 4th "that is like a 3rd".

He takes that future asset and trades it for a Rental, who can't score, plays 4th line minutes to join the other 7 4th liners on the roster, AND he increases the Cap hit by $300k.

But, I'm just so happy for this trade....

- IonSabres

Frolik can serve a purpose. He's kind of like an Okposo.. has definitely been useful, but always overpaid. Botts is gambling that he returns to his 3 year average, where he was an extremely effective bottom 6 player. A player this team requires.

What did we think we were getting for Marco Scandella.

It's a small trade, but it has the potential to be helpful. More helpful than benching 2 dmen per night. It also allows the team to discharge Erod at will. Or when we get Skinner and Olofsson back.

Well at least he made a trade....or two.

I'm fine with Frolik, a good forechecker with good 5 on 5 numbers and he'll help the PK, which is desperately needed. And they only gave up a 4th. Now on to ERod...

He's a 28 year old pending UFA on pace for 24 points.

The (frank) do you want him for?

The Sabres have held Connor McDavid pointless in both games. Other teams to have done this:

We don’t.

But it’s the exact trade this GM will make.

He hates giving away his assets other than 4th rd picks.

Cody Eakin is the exact buy low candidate this GM for some reason loves.

Bowl-U
Scandella
Pommer
Frolik
Miller
Berglund
Sobotka

Bottom 6 and 5-7 d-men.

He gave away a 1st and a B prospect for a good defenseman though. And a bundle of picks for Skinner.

Not excusing him, but he's not afraid to use good murrency. It's becoming harder and harder to justify trading our first this year. Then again, the higher the value of the pick, the better the return.

i'm talking Eakin, not Frolik.

Though I guess you did acquire a 31 year old pending UFA on pace for 22 points, so...

Maybe he spent too much time with Rutherford. It's exactly what JR used to do in Raleigh when he had E.Staal carrying the team. Overpay for one winger, and then desperately keep adding reclamation project players hoping one or two of them pan out.

Not a bold choice, but it was possibly the most obvious trade in the world for everyone involved now tat it's done.

Kinda stupid it took this long.

Well,
-Not a Rental
-Not a guy who costs more in the meantime.

Should have kept the 4th, much better use ... could have reduced his Cap by the prorated share of Scandella's $4m.
Frolik is going to outscore Erod by??? 5pts? Soooooo heeee daaaaa
