He's a high $ guy, that's expected. What the team's going to miss is Leivo. Pearson's playing well, other guys need to step up, it's going to get more difficult. |

Leivo’s a good depth guy for $1.5 million, I think he’s a UFA next year, I doubt he’s re-signed. |

Jake Motte Gauds Stech RFAs MacEwen too but no one cares about him
Marky Tanev Schaller Fantenberg Leivo UFAs
Buyouts?
Stecher has arbitration rights and a QO has to be 2.6 I believe. |

I am guessing of course
Markstrom 5.5
Tanev 4 (injury risk)
Gauds 1.1
OJ 800K
Fantenberg 1.5
Rafferty 800K
Jake 2.5
Leivo 2.0
Motte 1.2
Schaller replacement 1.5
Total 20.9
Cap increase predicted at 85 mil per Friedman giving Canucks 21.5 in space |

I think it comes down to what Tanev is asking. If Tanev is over 4 mil it might be goodbye CT |

I think he’s worth his QO as a third pairing guy. But you’re right, there’s some ugly contracts on the books right now. |

If Stechers and agent don't accept offer he goes to arb and that could bring him to the 3 to 4.5 mil range.
Better off not to qualify him and sign him after July 1 |

Kovalchuk and the Kings recently came to an agreement to go their separate ways, but his $6.25MM cap hit is still on their books for the balance of the contract term. I'm assuming that's because he was over 35 when he signed the contract. Or is there some other reason for it?
Ericksson was not 35 when he signed his current contract. If he and the Canucks were to come to a similar agreement to terminate his agreement after the 2020 bonus has been paid in July, would the team still be on the hook for his cap hit for the remaining two years of that contract? Or would it be wiped out and he'd be free to sign as a UFA with any other team like Kovalchuk is now?
Ericksson would have just $4MM left to be paid over the final two seasons and that's a number I can see him walking away from in order to have a chance at playing one or two more years somewhere else. |

I don’t think he’s any more than a 2.5 or 6 million dollar player so whatever they have to do to get him at that number. He’s making 2.3 million dollar right now and that’s fine. |

Yes I believe it’s the over 35 contract that’s the reason they can’t get rid of it. Carolina has Marleau’s 6.25 million on their cap this year even though they came to the same agreement. |

I hope Canucks have a handshake deal in line with Loui that after the bonus he retires and takes an office job with Canucks doing nothing. If they are keeping him here with no deal in place I would be pissed .
Hopefully he retires after bonus.
Loui will never get another job paying him 4 mil for two years so I doubt he just walks without a plan B

It’s the Eriksson, Sutter, Baertschi & Beagle contracts (~ 17.5 million) that’s a kick in the pants for Benning to deal with. |

I think Sutter will be bought out next year saving 2.333 . He played 26 games last year and 22 this year. As much as I might like the dude that is a waste. |

Petey over the past 2 months is only at .82 ppg.
Beagle and Schaller don't have a point in the past 2 months.
Team is winning without 4th line scoring. |

Eriksson’s contract terminated and Sutter bought out would be best case scenario, maybe they buyout Baertschi too, but if I was Francesco Aquilini I’d be hugely pissed at so much waste. |
