Eriksson’s contract terminated and Sutter bought out would be best case scenario, maybe they buyout Baertschi too, but if I was Francesco Aquilini I’d be hugely pissed at so much waste. - Pacificgem
Aquilini is too busy promoting Uber
Canucks still have Spooner on the books next year so I am not sure of a teams max buyouts. I looked this morning and could not find anything saying max 2 buyouts.
I agree that Benning has a lot of wasted money and for that reason you don't want this guy having a lot of cap space. His best work has been in trading and drafting. |

Petey over the past 2 months is only at .82 ppg.
Beagle and Schaller don't have a point in the past 2 months.
Team is winning without 4th line scoring. - manvanfan
Only? That’s excellent for an NHL player imo, don’t you think? Beagle is such a garbage player, for 3 million a year he’s |

Drafting yes, trading no, mediocre record at best. |

It took him a few tries but I like Miller Pearson Leivo Motte |
|
|
|
I am guessing of course
Markstrom 5.5
Tanev 4 (injury risk)
Gauds 1.1
OJ 800K
Fantenberg 1.5
Rafferty 800K
Jake 2.5
Leivo 2.0
Motte 1.2
Schaller replacement 1.5
Total 20.9
Cap increase predicted at 85 mil per Friedman giving Canucks 21.5 in space - VANTEL
If you can get him on 1 year I guess great. They will want to sign an impact forward cause they always do and theyll waste money call it 5 mill
10 for petey the year after and roughly 8 for quinn. No cap space brah Demko will need a small raise of hes still here as well. Loui Beagle Sutter is so gross sven gross loui. There is 20mill is just dead money |

That puts him tied for 60th in those two months.
The idea of Beagle and what he does is great but honestly, how does he not score more often or get an assist.
He is on pace to be on the ice for half as many goals for but just as many goals against 5v5 this season.
It's time to change up the 4th line. |

Miller has been a great pickup, Pearson’s been ok but that doesn’t excuse the terrible deal he made for Gudbranson...and I mean terrible. Leivo’s a middling six forward an ok deal for sure. Motte is a 4th liner, his contributions are pretty minimal. |

What terrible deal . We had a snotty self centered b1tch that didn't want to be here in the first place.

His stock has never been higher. Team keeps winning I doubt anyone is getting moved unless it's actually excess like Benn but they are going to keep as many as possible for injuries.
Highest win percentage in the division right now. |

Canucks are tied for 7 th in GA. As much as people don't like Beagle Schaller they are effective. |

That’s just a bunch of folklore to make your position sound better, none of it’s actually true. Sure the kid had a cocky attitude but what kid in the NHL at 19 doesn’t, his trading had everything to do with Benning wanting a big right shot defenceman not because of Jared McCann’s attitude.
He also gave up the 33rd overall pick, it was a terrible terrible trade. I voiced my opinion at the time that Gudbranson was a terrible defenseman, I made the comparison to Brenden Dillon and you laughed, he’s probably worse than Dillon. |

That’s not a product of J beagle, he averages 12 minutes a night with only six takeaways and he’s a minors player playing against the other teams fourth line, offer $3 million. Schaller’s a better penalty killer because he can at least skate. Beagles good on the dot, that’s about it. |

I hope Canucks have a handshake deal in line with Loui that after the bonus he retires and takes an office job with Canucks doing nothing. If they are keeping him here with no deal in place I would be pissed .
Hopefully he retires after bonus.
Loui will never get another job paying him 4 mil for two years so I doubt he just walks without a plan B - VANTEL
Retirement or termination seem like the only solution to solve the cap problem. A buyout isn't an option and they'd have to add too much in assets to trade his cap hit away. I was just curious if termination is even an option though, or if they'd get hit with some sort of cap penalty that makes it impractical from the Canucks' perspective.
I hope they have an agreement in place as well, but I don't see him retiring and taking some token front office job to offset his missed player's salary.
He's had a pretty frustrating last few seasons. Before he came to Vancouver he was an impact player in the best league in the world. I think he'd want to try and play at least one more year somewhere else just to try and recapture some of his past success. When you've made as much money as he has over his career, $4MM isn't much to pay for an attempt to restore your sanity and pride.
Also consider he'd probably get at least a million or close to it to sign somewhere else (NHL or Europe), and taxes eat up half of what he receives anyway. So maybe the real cost for him to walk is more like $1MM - $1.5MM? If I'd made $55MM over my career and didn't have parents like Jack Johnson, I'd pay that for a shot at one last good season of pro hockey.

It’s the Eriksson, Sutter, Baertschi & Beagle contracts (~ 17.5 million) that’s a kick in the pants for Benning to deal with. - Pacificgem
Beagle is worth his contract, so is Sutter when healthy, otherwise his contract could be assigned to LTI if needed.
The other two are anchors. |
