roper's point was nylander was playing more under keefe, therefore scoing more.
i blame myself. i need to stop discussing his nonsense.
nylander is good. my pre-season prediction (which can be easily located, not just made up):
People think this guy sucks, but he's not so bad (and the reason is): Nylander. somehow under rated for his talent.
W. Nylander, RW 28g, 45a - Tumbleweed
Kelly Hrudey, a self admitted Nylander hater, was pumping his tires pretty hard on Saturday |

It only proves that Babs didn't like Nylander on the PP. |

yes.
everyone was half-assing it for the first ~25 games. they are putting in more effort now. the stats reflect that.
it's a simple as that and should be obvious. |

Yeah it has nothing to do with the idiot behind the bench that thought Tyson Barrie should never play 1st unit PP or the 1st unit PP needed to get off the ice after 40 seconds.
Babcock is a joke.
A rookie coach gets it. Babcock does not. |

Maybe, but it is nice to see our top players getting over 90 seconds of PP time |

It was so frustrating having this talent and seeing it not used ultilized properly every game. We never once put out the best lineup under Babcock.
He took off the 1st unit PP early to "Line-match". That line-matching also kept our best players off the ice more than they should have.
Keefe has walked into an amazing situation where he just does the obvious and will get results.

No way that It’s because Keefe is putting a better system and making better decisions
Impossible
Marner and Matthews lighting it up together? Nylander and Tavares? Holl playing 20 mins?
That all contributes to success
Success that Keefe, yes Keefe chose to do. |

I will admit, I didn't see the Leafs going 13-4-1 in their first 18 games under Keefe.
I thought missing the playoffs was a likely outcome after the Babs firing |

keefe is fine. he's doing a very good job. way better than I expected.
13-4-1 (or whatever it is) is a fantastic start.
if freddy stays healthy, the the playoffs are a lock.
the coach isn't the problem. the question is if this team can fight through adversity in the playoffs. |

Bottom line is - Babcock never tried outrageously obvious things to try to get the team going.
The fact that Matthews and Marner basically never played together 5 vs 5 under Babcock is silly.
The fact that he never really played Tavares with Nylander last year or early this year to try and get Nylander going is silly.
He was annoyingly stubborn.

One thing is certain, come playoff time, if a forward line or D-pairing is not working, Keefe won't be scared to try something new.. |

Looking forward to seeing Freddy the goat defending a 3 goal lead against the Bruins in game 7 of the conference semi-finals |

yes. it seemed like he did things at times to prove he was in charge and it got old.
though maner/tavares was a pretty good combo. |

Of course.
My only issue with Marner/Tavares was that in my opinion they are both players that seem to make other players better. So I hope they stay on separate lines going forward because they both seem to be able to elevate their line.
I love Matthews, but I don't think he makes other players better the way Marner or Tavares do.

Let's see if he can play hockey in the NHL first.
If so...sure. Tell him to watch Hyman and play the same way. I would love to have another Hyman on this team.

Naw. That's what Babs mistake was. Too often he would try to get players to play like someone else instead of just using them to their strengths and what got them to where they are in their careers.
